Strengths: Coaxial Input to your Television for both DVD and VCR Less remotes in the house Digital Camera JPG viewing off a CD
Weaknesses: none noted
Summary: The largest advantage of this unit is that no converter from a RCA jack to Coaxial input for older Televisions is required. Most DVD players have a RCA jack output only. The DVD signal in this unit goes through the coaxial input greatly simplifying life. Another advantage is only one remote is required to run both the DVD/VCR. Most video stores only rent DVDs so you can view them on this unit while being able to watch your older movies on VHS with the VCR. I have taken my Digital JPG Camera pictures on a CD and viewed them on the television because the DVD is both a CD and DVD player. It gives you a slide show. The CD part of the DVD player will also play music through your Television speakers. This includes not only regular music CDs but MP3 files on CD as well

Strengths: Very clear recording quality, has many ports, was an easy install & I was able to schedule many VCR recordings easily. It has fast rewind & a good remote control.
Weaknesses: Cord to connect to TV is only 3 feet long. It makes a humming noise while playing. No LCD display. Very few buttons (don't lose the remote!).
Summary: Overall, I'm happy given the price I paid. The install was easy and the picture quality is quite good. You may be bothered by the humming it makes while it is playing a video though. It isn't as loud as a car driving by, it is more like having my wife's blow dryer running in the in a different room with the door closed. It's a little annoying but I wouldn't throw it in the garbage just for that.

It has ports galore with a few in the front too. Read the full specs to see what they all are. The cord they supply is only 3 feet long so you may end up having to buy a longer cord separately.

The lack of an LCD display is a tiny disappointment but hitting the "display" button on the remote will display this information on your TV screen.

Overall, after 1 week, I'm happy with this purchase.
