Strengths: Price, Floorstanding, Stylish, Ported, and Sound
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: I bought these speakers because I was buying the Yamaha RX-V1600 receiver, which outputs 120W per channel @ 8 ohms impedance. I was looking at some of the surround sound packages that Yamaha had, but none of the speakers rated over 100 watts, which I know doesn't matter too much, but I wanted speakers that matched the level of the receiver. I also didn't want small bookshelf speakers because my TV is in a corner and the mounting would have required extra brackets or stands. That is when I stumbled upon these speakers, which have an MSRP of $249.99, but I only paid $175 after shipping. I've had them hooked up along with the matching NS-C125 (center channel) and the NS-M125P (rear speakers) to the Yamaha RX-V1600, WITHOUT A SUB (still in shipping), and the sound is great! The NS-125F's put out a lot more bass than I expected and although I haven't turned the speakers passed 0 db yet they are extremely loud and clear! I've never owned speakers that I've had to purchase component-by-component and I didn't listen to these in advance and I am completely satisfied with these. The only thing I really find weird about these speakers, and all Yamaha speakers, is that they are 6 ohm, when their receivers’ ratings are given at 8 ohms. The receiver does have a 6 ohm setting, so I'm assuming that this is some quirky Yamaha thing that has to do with their unique sound. I would recommend these speakers to anyone who is planning on purchasing a Yamaha receiver, wants a nice pair of floor standing speakers, or if you want a nice pair of home theater speakers that can handle some bass.
