 SAMSUNG Beige 16X DVD+R 4X DVD+RW 5X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 4X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 40X CD-R 32X CD-RW Strengths: Bought it for a friend, install was quick and painless. Works great, no problems yet. Now if only the 16x blank dvds would get affordable!
Weaknesses: The DVD-R was easy to installed but after a month or so of usage. The DVD would not read CD's. I still could burn DVD but it would not read CD's for some reason.
Summary: I wish some of you would post what motherboards you are using with this drive that have found it to work.I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe with an Athlon 64 4000.
I give this DVD recorder 3 stars because its obvious it works well for others.I tried updating the firmware.I flashed the BIOS..nothing works.When i place a DVD in the Plextor,and attempt to access it,it hangs my whole computer,windows task manager will not even work.
I read the warnings given here by others,but i failed to adhere to them.
Anyway,I will try something different.
