Mixing by hand left lumps of powder, and I couldn't use ice. This cordless hand blender is very easy to snap together, mixes shakes very well, is powerful and the battery lasts a long time. I use it at least twice a day until the battery dies (it is a nicad). I have to recharge it about every 8-12 days. The end result is a perfectly mixed protein shake, very smooth and without a lot of air, If you want froth, you can add it by lifting the blender head up and down a bit while you blend allowing air to get into the head openings. 100% of People (6/6) found this review helpful. That is enough to do every chore I've asked it to do so far. The freedom to take the blender to my work without worrying about cords or electrical problems is just what I bought for to begin with.
