Strengths: high capacity, compatible charger
Weaknesses: large size (but that's what you get for larger capacity)
Summary: 2005-04-16 09:26:34 I recently bought a Canon Elura 65 digital camcorder, and the factory battery that comes with it is only 720 mAh, which usually provides less than 2 hours recording time. In searching for an extended life battery, the Power 2000 BP-2L12 offers 1500 mAh, one of the best capacity ratings for a reasonable price. Additionally, this battery has a compatible Power 2000 charger also available at a reasonable price. I was able to purchase both from B&H Photo/Video for $75, and received them along with the rest of my order very promptly. B&H is an excellent resource for photo/video equipment, very reputable.
The charger works for both the Power 2000 extended battery and the original Canon battery, and the Power 2000 received a full charge in a reasonable amount of time. It also holds its charge well over an extended period of non-use, when stored off the camcorder.
The battery itself fits securely on the camcorder, and provides sufficient performance, for as much as I have been able to use it to date. The real test will be when I go on vacation in May, to see how it holds up on the trip, so I'll try to update my review after I get back. The battery has a two-year warranty.
