Strengths: No coasters, longevity. can cleanly write on disc surface
Weaknesses: a little more expensive
Summary: I made the switch from Verbatim to Taiyo Yuden after the 100 pack Verbatims started coming in the infamous "orange" wrappers which apparently are made in India and not the former Taiwan. Anyway, this was a blessing in disguise as it cause me to make the switch and I'm really glad I did. I love these discs - not a coaster yet and over 100 successful burns. I was getting only about an 80% successful burn rate from the Verbatims. I think it's worth the extra expense - you generally get what you pay for.

Strengths: White face, easy to write on or use in ink-jet. Never had an error or made a coaster.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: Ordered from Rima.com and have consistently been impressed with the reliability of Taiyo Yuden disks. They are the only brand I purchase anymore. I have DVDs several years old and still playing. I also use Taiyo Yuden for CD-Rs. These are the best you can buy and the best bang for the money!!

Strengths: reflects like a real mirror, has the best surface finish ever seen
Weaknesses: none
Summary: I have a 3550a burner, but I get the errors when I attempt to write big files or a lot of files into a DVD as it happens with other brand name DVDs, So I think the Taiyo quality doesn't help much when it comes to this problem,

I'm sure the lifetime of this DVDs are superior than any other brands I've seen/used so far, And that was my main concern when purchasing DVDs. So I'm happy with it, and I'll buy again

Strengths: inkjet printable
Weaknesses: had to buy another printer to use
Summary: I like being able to print directly on the DVD as opposed to using stick-on labels. Inkjet printable disks give a more professional look and are nicer to look at. It's great and saves time printing directly on the disk.

2 Star ReviewBad batch?
Strengths: Have always been very good in the past!
Weaknesses: Must have gotten a bad batch. They will not burn at 8X without Errors!
Summary: These DVD'S have consistently out performed any other 8X DVDs (printable or not) But this last batch (Bought from supermediastore.com in Nov. of 2007) wont burn at 8X without consistent errors. I have to drop the burn speed to 4X to get good burns. I've never had this problem with TY's before and I hope this is not a permanent drop in quality to their product line!
