MPT 3.0 for Motorola E815 and Verizon service
Strengths: This product is excelent for transfering and saving the contact list from the phone to the computer.
Weaknesses: Could not use it for anything else due to functions being blocked for my phone by Motorola and Verizon
Summary: The MPT 3.0 software seems to have a lot of functionality. Unfortunately it could not be utilized for my Verizon phone due to Motorola blocking these functions for Verizon phones. Initially, I had some problems installing the software because it would not recognize my phone. After downloading the latest drivers it finally worked.

Mobile PhoneTools version 3.0 software CD plus USB Cable - 98653H
Strengths: It is nice for transfering wallpapers and ringtones.
Weaknesses: I had a lot of trouble getting it to work at first. It is sometimes hard to get or keep the connection with phone.
Summary: All I wanted with this was to transfer wallpapers and ringtones and it works nicely for that after I got it hooked up. I had to get an update via the internet. I have a motorola V262. If you keep your phone on all the time and it will not recognize it when you connect to PC, turn the phone off and back on and it will usually work.

Strengths: supports all phone standard features.
Weaknesses: did not override carrier changes to firmware.
Summary: Overall the software does what its intended to do: Offer you a way to backup your Phone's address information, and to interface with Outlook.
The only weakness is that vendor locked phones are not supported at their capability, but at the restricted, vendor specified level. My v710 for instance, I could not access the multimedia features at all until after using a firmware hack to reenable these standard settings.
Simple to use, and greatly useful at simplifying contact information as well as ringtone and picture additions and removals to/from the phone.

Strengths: This is a good product, worth the price overall, but does not deserve a "great" rating as most Motorola products do, because it failed to furnish all features, and was overly difficult to install.
Weaknesses: 1) failed to provide "Multimedia" functions as advertised
2) Live Update menu obscurely located & undocumented
3) no responses from tech support at BVRP Software (Moto's SW vendor), nor from Motorola
Summary: Motorola Mobile Phonetools "MPT" installed with great difficulty after many hours. Motorola software vendor, BVRP Software, failed to reply to several well-documented e-mailed tech support requests.
The main problem turned out to be our newer Moto E815 phone was not supported in the 2-year old version of the software on the MPT disc that shipped, but that could easily have been remedied by updating MPT's drivers via a "Live Update" menu function. However, BVRP's documentation never pointed to this menu, but instead enticed you only to click a link to their sales site where you were encouraged to pay a fee to upgrade MPT to a more expensive version. A customer should not be solicited for additional money until after the basic product can be installed.
Without any help from BVRP or Motorola, I eventually managed to get our E815's recognized on both WinXP and Win2k as a modem in Device Manager.
The "Multimedia" function was advertised to allow creation and import of your own ringtones. But this feature is locked out of our Moto E815 phones, something Moto itself obviously knows, so there should have been a warning & disclaimer not to expect it.
The phonebook and calendar synchronization features work well with both Outlook and with generic MPT phone/calendar databases; we like having good backups of our phone info.
MPT & its cable also allowed us to use the phone as a data modem under our Verizon cell plan.

Strengths: Provides good communication between computer and cellphone
Weaknesses: Does not have ability to include Speed number in info transfer
Summary: The instructions for the software are not very clear. The support from Motorola is slow and, for the question raised, was not helpful. The product functions reasonably but with limited capability.

Strengths: NA
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: It took some fiddling around to install. My phone was not detected on the first installation attempt. When I told the installer not to find a driver and manually told it my phone model it installed ok. The program works fine for my purposes which include transferring photos, music clips saved as ring-tones and contacts to and from my desktop PC. The documentation and help system aren't great but with some fumbling around everything works fine. I wish the program had a simpler method for transferring multiple photos but on the whole I am satified with it. I would buy it again.

Strengths: Works as promised.
Weaknesses: You may have to upgrade the software from motorolla's website depending on your phone model.
Summary: I was surprised by the music editing software included in this CD which will let you trim any MP3 and upload into your phone as a ringtone. The only problem was that the sofwtare out of the box did not work for V551, althoug it was working for 120e. After searching through the motorolla wesite, found out the instructions to "live update" the software.

Motorola Mobile tools V.3.0 plus usb cable
Strengths: Easy to use and good graphic.
Weaknesses: It does not work with windows xp sp2.
Summary: I tried to install this program on my computer that has windows xp sp2. It failed to do, because it's not compatible with windows xp. When I tried it on my older computer that uses window ME, the program works perfectly. Then I contacted the company that created this program, which is not Motorola. It did not help me at all. This program is useless if you use windows xp.

Mobile PhoneTools version 3.0 software CD plus USB Cable - 98653H ... you recently purchased.
Strengths: It does what is says it's going to do. Product works fine. Can upload custom MP3s, wallpapers, and themes back to the phone. Pretty cool.
Weaknesses: Lost connection with phone a few times. Had to re-boot PC to re-establish connection.
Summary: Definitely worth the price. Needed it to pull pics off the phone before swapping it out with new phone. Can upload custom MP3s, wallpapers, and themes back to the phone. Not to mention old pics. Pretty cool.

Strengths: Enables synchronization of contacts between Outlook and phone. Also allows you to type SMS messages on computer and have the phone send.
Weaknesses: Installation was cumbersome and not intuitive. Updating and connecting seemed very slow. Synchronizing keeps dying.
Summary: The product has more bells and whistles than was necessary for me. I simply didn't want to have to re-type all of my numbers into my new phone, so I simply needed the contacts synchronization. The other features are nice, but I would have preferred a pared down, cheaper version. The synchronization interface looks nice, but actually doing the sync is cumbersome and not intuitive, and the several times I have tried it, it has failed. Try it at your own risk, and keep your expectations low.

Mobile PhoneTools version 3.0 software CD plus USB Cable - 98653H
Strengths: Easy software setup
Weaknesses: cable unplugs from phone easily, can only copy files to phone, not from.
Summary: Overall, not a bad product. I was disapointed that I couldn't copy files from the phone, but I didn't research enough. Definitely a good buy for the price I gave, does what it says it will.

Total, Utter Piece of Garbage
Strengths: none
Weaknesses: Does absolutely nothing!
Summary: Installed. Reinstalled. Reinstalled. Refused to list ANY phone models. Shut off five or six functions in Vista, as advised on discussion boards. Reinstalled. Reinstalled. Reinstalled. Updated. Updated. Updated. Finally got it to "detect" my phone (a V3a). Communicated with my phone for eight hours--said "Phone initializing---please wait." Did this for a few more days. Eventually seemed to be communicating with the phone--sending all sorts of commands back and forth. Eventually started saying, over and over, hundreds of times: "Phone does not exist." I kid you not. Never got the software to do ANYTHING. Total, utter piece of reeking, steaming garbage.
