Audio but not Video Receiver
Strengths: Range of audio inputs and outputs; nice looking, 3 HDMI inputs
Weaknesses: only a pass thru for video; clicky in transtion between inputs
Summary: I choose this based on a high recommendation from the salesperson at Best Buy. I already had 4 speakers so I choose to go with a better receiver than a speaker/receiver package deal. The most important selling point for me was the 3 HDMI inputs. My TV has 1 HDMI input and right now I have a HDMI from the DVD but in the future I'd like to add a BlueRay player and/or a gaming system that will be HDMI. So the AVR154 solves that future need of toggling the TV between HDMI inputs. Switching between sources is a little sluggish. It takes time for the AVR154 to decide the best audio for the signal coming in. I'm only using the receiver for audio. But it does good at that. One un-resolved issue is it shows the audio out options of; Dolby, DTS, Logic7 and Stereo. It picks the best option for you but then has buttons to let you change. I've but in a couple DVDs that had both DTS and Dolby. I wanted to switch and hear both but the AVR154 only allows Dolby?? I could not get the remote to sync with my TV and DVD, which are new Panasonics so they should sync. I am using 3 remotes. The AVR154 remote is extensive so it can be a master remote so it is very disappointing I can't get that feature to work.
