Summary: Great sound through my factory 20 watts nominal, 40 watts max speakers. I bought this to integrate my iPod and Sirius satellite receiver. I did alot of research and found that pretty much all stereos that advertise "iPod ready" and "satellite ready" mean that you still have to buy a separate $100 adapter for each. I spent $34 on a Pioneer AUX adapter (CDRB-10) for the iPod in the meantime. Can't change songs from the head unit but the sound quality was greatly improved. If you don't mind not being able to control the iPod or SR from the head unit, you can just go with the AUX adapter. You will have alot of extra wires and driving distracton to deal with while changing songs tho.
Nothing available for Kia Optimas as far as wiring harnesses, mounting kits or even general info. Luckily my factory stereo had a pin-out for the plug in the manual that came with the car. Got some wire connectors and wired it up. Sounds great. Now I just have to buy those damn adapters!
The real kicker here was the warranty. Under the specs for this radio on Pioneer's website, it says it has a 2 year warranty. Nowhere does it say that that warranty is voided if you don't purchase from one of their "Authorized Dealers". I had to find that out after I bought it. Where I bought it from has a warranty but with it, with shipping and everything else, costs just as much as if I had bought it in a store like Best Buy or Circuit City. So, I guess buying it online doesn't really save you any money. I am mad as hell at Pioneer for this. Unfortunately, I'm caught up in the adapter trap they have set up meaning that I have to further patronize this company to get what I want. And this is one of the only radios that has all the features I'm wanting.
