Strengths: Perfect Pictures on HD channels
Weaknesses: Internal speakers vibrate with noise in surround sound
Summary: We bought the 42LG70 and brought it home to hook up to my Direct TV standard receiver. The picture was not very good. I ordered the Direct TV HD receiver package and the HD channels are crystal clear. Be advised that the internal speackers make noise and the internal amp is not very strong. Hooking it up to an external amplifier and surround speakers fixes the problem. Another note is Direct TV does not give loacl channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) in HD! When I asked Direct TV why, they said it was the local stations in Central VA. I contacted the stations and found out the Direct TV did not want to invest in the HD connections here because the market share is to low. They will sell you network feeds in HD from NYC for a extra fee per channel each month. I went out and bought a nice/large outdoor HD antenna and now get all the local channels in HD for free. I get 28 channels and 13 are HD through my new antenna. I may tell Direct TV to pack their bags.

Strengths: Price value, Input connections
Weaknesses: 120Hz looks kinda funky
Summary: I researched a lot around and ended up getting this HDTV. At that time, it has the best value for the price. If you look around hard enough, you should find it under one grand.

The TV also have 4 HDMI connections. This make it perfect to connect with either gaming consoles, computer or dvd/blu-ray player. I myself connect my PS3 to it and it look amazing. (note that PC can be connected to it via HDMI-DVI connection).

Lastly, this might not be a weakness but with 120HZ, it will look funky especially playing blu-ray disc. Of course you can turn it off and with signals from cable, it actually make it somewhat clearer and smoother. I have not test with DVD but the effect might be between the blu-ray funky effect to overall good effect from cable.

All in all, this is a good buy.
