Strengths: Simple setup, decent range, compact, stylish.
Weaknesses: None...as of yet.
Summary: The "Universal MRF-300RFX Addressable RF Base Station" was an excellent addition to my recently upgraded audio system. And, before I go any further, everyone must understand that you must possess one of five compatible "Universal" remotes to communicate with the MRF-300. I'm using their low end MX-350 Osiris. One of my favorite past times is entertaining guests. Yup, outdoor parties. My A/V Receiver is capable of two separate Zones. Meaning, two independent speaker outputs from several different input devices. I have my patio speakers wired to "Zone 2" in the A/V Receiver so I can listen to (for example) CD's on the patio while people on the inside of the house can listen to the toner. I'm using both "Universal" products in a RF (radio frequency) format. Being outside, the factory IR (infrared) remote supplied with the A/V Receiver is not an option unless you open the door and stick your arm inside and aim toward the receiver. Humph. Anyway, the receiving distance of the MRF-300 is more than adequate for my application and the MRF-300 makes it possible to control all of my components from outdoors. Setup was simple. Mating the MX-350 to the MRF-300...totally painless. There is a small wired "flasher" that must be mounted (stuck) on the front of the IR receiver on each A/V component. Thus far, this has been a "set it and forget it" unit. The manufacturer has a nice website with a lot more information.

3 Star ReviewWorks but not 100% of the time
Strengths: Set up
Weaknesses: Reliability
Summary: Does not always respond 100% of the time with certain brands (models). I had trouble with Time Warner cable box and Denon receiver. Check the web (which I had to do extensively to get the product to function) for issues before purchasing.

Strengths: Excellent range, all items included
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: Nevermind that this device has allowed me to place my equipment in a remote area, it also has allowed improved performance of my MX-350. I no longer have to hold the remote steady (8+ seconds) while the long macro strings I created are executed. Comes with 6 emitters and each can have its intensity adjusted via a recessed trim screw in the base station. No covers are provided so you will have to improvise (carefully cut black electrical tape works great) if you have devices with a remote conflict (2 tivo units for me).

Strengths: I already knew what I was looking for as I had priced this unit at Sound Advice and opted to find it on line for less. I ended paying about half the cost!
Weaknesses: I dont know that there is any weekness with the MRF-300 but I do find myself having to push a button several times on the universal remote on occasions to get the function to process.
Summary: if you're tech savy or have someone doing it for you, I highly recommend buying the MRF-300 on line and saving yourself a fair amount of money!
