Strengths: Allowed every command from all of my electronics to be at my fingers. I have 6 audio & video sources.
Weaknesses: This powerful remote is not the easiest to program.
Summary: Most universal remote controls only give you 20 to 30 percent of the commands available to you on the factory remotes. They sacrifice capability for simplicity. This may be acceptable for children & visitors to your home. Alas, I am proud member of that esteemed group of people you know as geeks. Most geeks use the factory remotes. We are not willing to give up a single command from our factory remotes. I was using 7 remotes! With the MX650’s massive capability I loaded every command from each of my remotes onto it. I was also able to program dozens of Macro’s. Macro’s are multiple command strings; such all off and all on. One of my macro’s is “DVD”. When one selects the DVD player as a source the remote also tells my receiver to select Dolby Digital as a sound field, Tells my TV to change to the “HDMI” input, and shuts off all my other sources. Also for children & visitors there is a favorite page where you can select cable or satellite channels by the call letters: ABC, HBO, TNT etc… This is very user friendly remote. It’s only downfall is that programing this monster is not for the novice. For geeks & hobbyists there is no better remote anywhere near this price!
