Strengths: Big soundstage; very detailed and accurate image.
Weaknesses: Sub only comes in black
Summary: This is a great HT system. Talk about bang for your buck, this system outperforms all of the systems my friends have, and it looks hot. I swear I only spent 1/3 of the money they did, but nobody will admit after hearing what I paid. The service and product are unparalleled in my mind. I was very impressed with the ability of this system to create a very large and consistent sound stage out of such a small attractive cabinet. I will probably upgrade to the double speakers for the front three channels. I can only imagine what two of these puppies can do together.

Weaknesses: None
Summary: This is a great product and a great company. They were responsive to all of my questions, the speakers arrived a few days after I ordered, and they were many times better sounding and looking than I ever expected. I don't really write reviews or register on sites but felt to put the good word out for the really nice folks at Orb. The fact that you can customize/upgrade the speakers from Mod1 to Mod2 is ingenious...we liked these so much we put them from the family room into the theater room, and upgraded the front to Mod2 b/c the room is bigger. Now we are trying to decide if we want the second Orb set to be steel again or the new copper that wasn't available when we first purchased them.

Summary: Very impressed with these speakers. I almost bought bose but am so glad I didn't because these were much cheaper and I think they sound better. Very clear and detailed sound. Customer service was great and I would recommend orb to anyone looking for small speakers.

Strengths: Superb sound quality Beautiful design Great customer service Fantastic integration between satellites and sub Biggest, fullest sound of any sub/satellite system GREAT subwoofer
Weaknesses: Fancy steel finish is extra $$
Summary: If you are looking for a small speaker system that has big, full sound, do not look any further than Orb Audio. Forget that their prices might be lower than other "high end" systems...the direct business model means you get more for less $$ and we all like that. I did a lot of research before buying and was not disappointed at all. The buying experience on the phone was excellent, and I feel that I received very good advice (I was told to start with a combination of Mod2 and Mod1 speakers instead of all Mod2 speakers as I had asked for, saving me more $$). As for sound quality, I would say the system has superb clarity and detail and really great bass. There is no way to differentiate the sound from the sub and the sound from the sats, they blend perfectly. The realism on voices is spooky at times. And the bass from the Super Eight is defined and accurate for music, but can still rumble like crazy for home theater. The system definitely sounds comparable to big box speakers and that is no simple accomplishment. Orb definitely sets a very high bar with both quality and service and I would recommend them wholeheartedly. Certainly many of my friends who have spent more on speakers have admitted that they would rather have had the Orbs, and one has even sold his system on Ebay to buy his own Orbs.

Strengths: Size vs sound is astounding...very small, beautiful speakers, but HUGE sound. Just like big 3 way speakers. Direct business model rules, too! Great for music and movies, which is rare. Awesome sub.
Weaknesses: Hand polished steel finish is $20 extra (but worth it!)
Summary: I bought the Orbs after hearing a lot of good things about them and a report about them on TV. I was a little scared to buy them without listening, but the 30 day home trial was good enough for me since my research showed the company had great service and was easy to reach, etc. As soon as they arrived, I knew I had made a wise choice and wouldn't be sending these back. They really deliver on the promises they make on the website. The speakers sound like big floorstanding speakers, with tremendous imaging and deep, tight bass. You can't isolate the sound from the sats vs. the sub, which is key to me. There is also no midrange hole, which is another pet peeve of mine. The satellites are beautiful and handmade out of steel. Fit and finish is excellent, and they look very sharp. I paid extra for the hand polished steel finish on 4 speakers, leaving the center black to match my TV. I ordered the system w/ the upgraded Mod2 center channel. For Christmas, my wife got me the *stunning* HOSS stands and upgrades for my left/right speakers to Mod2. Sound quality is excellent for both music and movies, which is not that common w/ home theater systems in my opinion. They appear to have spent as much time on the sub as the sats, too, and it's great to see a compact subwoofer really rumble when it needs to for theater, but retain the musicality to really shine on musical bass lines as well. My last sub was so much bigger and so much worse. Anyhow, this really is one of those rare companies/products that have everything going for them...great sound, compact size and really nice design. The direct business model saves you a bundle, and anyone thinking of spending even up to $3,000 should think about trying out an Orb system and not paying $1500+ in markups for nothing.

Strengths: Sound like much bigger speakers Direct business model saves money Huge Wife Acceptance Factor Good for both music and TV Great service
Weaknesses: Direct business model means you can't hear them in stores first
Summary: 2005-08-21 23:25:27 I did a decent amount of research before my purchase and had high expectations that were surpassed immediately out of the box. I love these things. My wife loves these things. My friends don't stop raving about them. The clarity and coherence are really a step up from all the other sub/sat systems I've ever heard. Put them out of your mind when thinking about Orb.

Strengths: sound stage, quality of craftsmanship, mind-blowing detail
Weaknesses: I can only have one home theater room
Summary: I was blown away by this sytem. I bought it on blind faith after hours of research (couldn't find a bad word about these guys) and was impressed from the second I opened up the package. Everything was shipped with care and arrived in a timely manner - all for $9.00. Setup was a breeze and after a little tweaking of my receiver (Onkyo 702) I was off and running. The first thing that struck me was the imaging. A very detailed and transparent, lifelike sound. Also, mid-range and warmth I would never expect from a speaker this size. Music and movies are both great on this system. The Steely Dan Gaucho SACD really rocks on this. I upgraded to the double center channel, and would also reccomend this. The voices and dialogue come through better. And my wife got to pick from the pretty colors.
