Summary: It is a good piece of kit, handy to be able to switch between radio and minidisk function. Long play 4 function allows over 5 hours of music on one disk. The remote is user friendly with the LCD display.

Advise not to use the supplied software due to the check-in / check-out function, instead use Real player with sony devise add on.

Had to send back to Sony Exchange right away, due ...

Strengths: n/a

Weaknesses: the unit was defective: distortion on playback.

Summary: Had to send back to Sony Exchange right away, due to distorted playback (skipping beats, popping noises). So, no chance to discover strengths yet. Sony was helpful. They are sending another new unit, but the whole process will take over a month. Could not locate a warranty repair shop nearby.

Overall, this is the BEST portable music device on ...

Strengths: WB/AM/FM/TV Tuner (Only MD player to feature all those), Mic. input, battery life, and EVERYTHING ELSE it has ...

Weaknesses: SOFTWARE!!! copyright protection is insane and ridiculous, can't even transfer recorderd stuff from the MD back to the comp. although you could always record it back using ur sound card

Summary: Overall, this is the BEST portable music device one can get. Not only is it very compact, light, and packed with so many features, but it's battery seems to last forever and the possibilities to do something on this are endless. $240 was a GREAT price for this and thank god I did not buy the ARCHOS jukebox rather than this. This MZ-NF810CK rocks, hands down.

Only problem ? The software. I don't let that get to me though, Sony has always sucked in that department. Hardware is AMAZING though. BUY ONE TODAY! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! I give it 4 1/2 stars.

Well gents, If you are considering the MZ-NF810 ...

Strengths: Quality sound produced from the minidisc Easy check in/out of songs between PC and minidisc Small dimensions make it easy to carry around

Weaknesses: The remote sucks.

Summary: Well gents,

If you are considering the MZ-NF810, make sure you ask about where the nearest Sony repair center is located cuz you are going to need it pretty soon. This otherwise nice machine seems to have a weekness in the remote component. Once the remote breaks down you immediately lose the RADIO altogether. You can still play songs from the minidisk though. Mine broke down (remote) after two weeks for no apparent reason (I used my machine while jogging around). To summarize, once the remote breaks down all the convenience of the thing has gone to hell.

And did i mention all the hustle i had to go through to find which Authorized Sony Repair center was accepting NetMDs for repair?

I would not buy this model. I made the mistake ...

Strengths: unknown

Weaknesses: does not work with mac os x

Summary: I would not buy this model.

I made the mistake of thinking that it would work like the other two different models that I have had before and they both quit working

and now this third replacement model does not work right out of the box.

Get a Grundig.
