Easy to setup/install.
Weaknesses: No DVI input.
Fan noise, seems greater than others.
Summary: After considerable research, I settled on the Hitachi CMP4201. Other models in the running included Fujitsu, Sony and Philips. One of my key requirements was dual voltage, so that ruled out Sony and Panasonic. Fujitsu, Philips and Hitachi were the only models for standard off the shelf USA purchase with this feature. After looking at the Fujitsu and the Philips 42FD9954 side by side, the Philips picture was good, but not as vibrant as the Fujitsu. However, I turned away from Fujitsu with their policy of no warranty for web sales. The retail cost difference vs the Hitachi online, was not worth an additional $4000. The box was sufficiently packed, however I would have expected more polystyrene to have protected the screen. The video card was not installed on arrival, so that needed to be inserted (and speakers attached) which was very easy. Then came the test - an Eagles DVD Hell Freezes Over - which certainly vindicated any concerns with picture quality. (Fujitsu and Hitachi screens are identical as they are made in a joint venture facility). The only slight negative is the fan noise which seems greater than others. Whilst not overly obtrusive, it is apparent in the quieter sections of movies. I had read of this negative, and was seriously considering Philips (as it is fanless), however the picture quality was not as good. It could also do with an additional DVI input. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.
