High levels of jpeg artifacting coupled with medium levels of chromatic abberation result in image sharpness and contrast lower than that of a 2 megapixel camera, save your money. Strengths: Small Size Weaknesses: Bad Image Quality Summary: I was so excited to find a Nikon in such a small package (I have owned 4 Nikon Coolpix cameras). But the image quality rates a ZERO. (This review did not allow that rating.) My first 2mp camera had better sharpness. When I called Nikon to complain they said to send it in for reconfiguration! When I called the store, they said to drop it and take advantage of my protection plan! If you own one call Nikon, if you are thinking of buying one, buy a Canon SD780... When I tried to turn it on it displayed a message "lens error". I tried several times but it didn't work. So I went to the shop and asked them to return the camera. However, they said the camera is very good and replaced with another one. However, the other camera is not good either. The image quality is very poor. I have an old HP 2.0 megapixel camera. Surprisingly, this Nikon camera doesn't show better image quality. The movie in bright sun also introduces noise in the frames. I even thought my camera was faulty prior of reading the reviews here. The images are very soft, and there are big purple fringing in presence of high contrast.
