 A nightmare Strengths: None
Weaknesses: Only works with 80-pin ide cable. Burn speed of 2X instead of 20X for DVD-R. Tech support = useless & rude. Bad firmware, need to flush firmware & update it then may not work still.
Summary: Poor engineering product from LG.
1) Servo-motor controller on the tray was poorly written/done. Shots the tray out of the drive instead of gradual, smooth ejection.
2) On-board firmware is bad out-of-the factory, buyers will need to flush the firmware themselves and patch it. There have been several revisions on the firmware which indicates problematic products.
3) Customer suppor staff in LG are real idiots and unhelpful.
If you want headaches, go ahead and buy it. Repeat after me,WILL NEVER, EVER ! buy LG products. Once is enough.
