Strengths: Rice is cooked well. Versatile device
Weaknesses: Nothing obvious
Summary: This micro computer controlled rice cooker from Sanyo is a very useful kitchen appliance. Most importantly, the rice from this cooker is quite good -- not overdone/undercooked, and with no off flavors. The unit is quite versatile, as it can be used to cook a variety of different rices, porridge, and soups. It can also be used as a steamer, as a heavy duty plastic steaming basket is included. (Although I have not yet used this function yet)

It's quick cook function can get rice cooked within about 15 to 20 minutes.

The rice cooker is a 10 cup cooker, large enough for most families. Despite it's large capacity, the cooker does not take up more space than a typical cooker half its size.

There are no obvious weaknesses with this rice cooker. Overall, I have been quite pleased with this purchase

Strengths: Large Capacity Titanium Bowl Does more than cook white rice
Weaknesses: Requires a decent amount of cleaning
Summary: This product cooks brown rice, mixed rice, white rice, porridge, and steams veggies too.

The rice it makes is delicious and easy to cook. It tastes much better than when making it on the stove and doesn't require the constant attention. When it is done it simply keeps the rice warm for you for up to 12 hours.

It also has a timer, so you can set it in the morning to have the rice done for dinner. Great product for busy people.

Strengths: Easy to program, easy to clean.
Weaknesses: A little bit too big for 2
Summary: It's a great ricecooker overall. A lot of options and choices of cooking mode. I tried rinsefree rice and slowcooking modes and it just works great. The keep-warm feature is great too. Also, the lid can be taken off for cleaning, very convinient. Highly recommended.

Strengths: Easy to use; "warm" function keeps food at a good temperature without excessive drying; makes great rice
Weaknesses: Chemical smell during initial usage (completely faded after the second use); slightly longer-than-expected cooking times.
Summary: So far we have used our Sanyo rice cooker for white rice, rice pudding, and bread pudding. I love being able to start rice in the late afternoon and not worry about it again; whether we end up eating at 6pm or 9pm, I know the rice will be warm and ready without that awful crust that you often get with other rice cookers.

I haven't tried the slow cooker function yet, but I plan on using it for chili and stews. Traditionally I've shied away from that kind of meal because I hate being stuck in the house (I'm uncomfortable going out while the stove is on), so I'm looking forward to the flexibility that preparing these dishes in the rice cooker will give me.

Strengths: Easy to use. cooks really tasty rice. no burning at the bottom. with an awesome heavy, nonstick cooking bowl and very easy for clean.
Weaknesses: cooking time is a little bit long (about 45 min)
Summary: Sanyo ECJ-D100S is a very nice rice cooker. I have been using this rice cooker for more than one year and really love it. It cooks really tasty rice and there is no burning rice at the bottom. It has an awesome heavy, nonstick cooking bowl and very easy for cleanup. There may be a little bit of a chemical smell when you turn it on for the first couple times, but this is normal. I let it run a little bit with no food inside to burn off the chemicals/dirt/dust/whatever was inside. By the end of the first batch I didn't smell anything bad. This rice cooker can keep your cooked rice in warm. However, the taste will not be as good as fresh one and the rice start to be dry and yellow. The only complain that I have is the cooking time which usually takes about 45 min. It is a little bit long for me. However, if you can plan this well, then you don’t need to sit before the cooker to wait for the rice ready.

Strengths: Can't mess it up rice settings.
Weaknesses: Vegetable steaming hasn't gone as well.
Summary: This is my first rice cooker that has more than two buttons (ie cook/on and warm/stay). I like it MUCH!

I have not yet had a batch of rice come out badly and so far, every batch has been better than the ones that I made with my previous cooker.

I have only cooked white rice so far; I don't eat a lot of brown rice or anything really different. A majority of the batches I make will consist of a 50:50 mix of Japanese short grain and Texas long grain rice. To each their own on what kind of rice to eat; that's just what I like.

I do want to try the porridge setting, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Otherwise, I love this thing.

Strengths: The rice comes out nice. The cord rolling up inside is a big plus. While steaming, water doesn't spit out of the top like on other models. I like the fact that pot isn't teflon, but Titanium.
Weaknesses: When the unit arrived, it did indeed have a strong chemical odor. But, once I wiped down every surface with a warm, damp cloth, and let it air dry, the smell went away.
Summary: This rice cooker takes all the guesswork out of cooking rice. It makes perfect rice every time. This cooker will also keep the rice warm for up to 12 hours, so in addition to making perfect rice, it takes the guesswork out of having to time the cooking of the rice to the rest of the meal. Just get the rice going, cook the rest of the meal and the rice is ready when you are ready for it.

The cooker also feels very light for all the features it has to offer.

Strengths: Besides cook great rice everytime, the other options (slow cook, potridge, timer...) come in handy too.
Weaknesses: Take a little bit longer to cook rice. Expensive.
Summary: This rice cooker is expensive comparing to some other ones, but it's worth it. It delivers great, fluffy white rice consistently. I also use it to cook some soup, and steam some dumpling. They all come out great. The timer option is a nice touch too. There are a couple things you should pay attention to: you should add a little bit more water to cook rice, and you should reserve a little bit more time for the rice to get cooked.

Strengths: Cooks fluffy white rice; Timer; Non-stick inner pot; Steamer basket fits on top of inner pot
Weaknesses: Slightly longer time to cook rice (45-55 mins) means you have to plan ahead; Exterior of the inner cooking pot scratches easily
Summary: I grew up with automatic rice cookers, but they've always been incarnations of the one button press kind that cooks in 20 minutes or so. Simple, quick and good.

*

But, oh... the Sanyo Micom Rice Cooker, how I never knew white rice could be made so light and fluffy until now.

*

The difference was immediately noticeable the first day I cooked with it. I can't explain how or why, but for some reason the same amount of uncooked rice now seems to yield more cooked rice after using the Sanyo ECJD100S. Each individual rice grain retains their shape and they don't clump together. I'm impressed.

*

Of course the trade off is that you have to plan on at least 1 hour and 20 minutes when using the timer feature to set when you'd like it to be done. This also means you can plug it in after washing the rice in the morning and have it ready for dinner.

*

The simple and very handy timer is something to appreciate -- though I wish you could set it in less than 10 min. increments for something like 6:15 pm instead of

going 6:10 pm or 6:20 pm, for example. My nitpick as it doesn't really matter as the Sanyo ECJD100S will keep it warm after cooking.

*

And if you're pressed for time I would just press the Cook button on the regular setting rather than the "Quick" option as the time difference is less than 10 minutes average. No need to go back to rapid boiling.

*

The 10 cup capacity seems like a lot, but it's not. 2 1/2 cups of uncooked white rice using the included measuring cup is enough for four full bowls that reaches up high. --Hint: 3/8 inch of water above rice makes rice that is neither too hard, nor mushy. But adjust according to personal preference. I don't use the pre-marked lines.

*

Things can't be perfect however, and there are some things I have issues with. Even with the utmost care to try and not turn the inner pot when scooping rice, the exterior of the cooking pot already has a few thin line scratches that go around the entire bowl in various places and on the bottom. Luckily the titanium coated interior is holding up well so far.

*

You also have to press the pop up top rather quickly so the water condensation on the inside lid flows to the top flat channel towards the back before it has a chance to get into the inner pot to soggy up the rice. Previous rice cookers had the plastic cup on the side that it drains into. Just soak up the water with a towel or leave to air dry for the Sanyo. Not a problem after it gets there, just don't want it in with the rice opening the lid.

*

The Sanyo ECJD100S is a great cooking appliance that will have you wondering how rice could turn out even better. It's worth the extra cooking time. You can cook many other types of rice, but I've only tried Jasmine white rice so far. Can't wait to try more varieties soon.

Strengths: I am very happy with this rice cooker. I have now used it to make rice and to make rice while steaming a bag of frozen vegetables. Each time the rice was delicious.
Weaknesses: The only drawback was the time it took to cook my first 2 cup of rice with it. It took almost 40 minutes (my old one usually take
Summary: This rice cooker rocks! I've cooked rice and porridge in it and it worked great. The rice comes out perfectly. I haven't figured out how to use the timer, but I haven't really tried yet.

Weaknesses: So far so good.

Strengths: Cooks and keep rice perfectly. Many options and great price.
Weaknesses: None yet.
Summary: I got this at a good price so it was a real steal for such a nice unit. Cooks rice perfectly, has slow cooker function too. The built-in clock is a plus and even the spatula works very well. I mean how can you go wrong when you have a mini fuzzylogic computer cooking rice for you?! Also keeps cooked rice warm and fresh throughout the day without browning.
