Strengths: Versitile.
Weaknesses: Bulky.
Summary: This AC/DC adapter is a little bulky with both sets of power cables though IBM provides a zippered bag in which to carry all of the pieces. I have used both the AC and DC (in a car) modes successfully. Certainly a great addition to your ThinkPad if your mobile.

Strengths: Comes with a nice pouch to contain the adapter and both the AC and DC power cords.
Weaknesses: It is a bit bigger that the AC adapter that came with my ThinkPad.
Summary: This is a must have for the road warrior and performs flawlessly. It has a small sliding door that will only allow either an AC or DC connection at one time. One of IBM's great designs that prevents plugging both cords in at the same time. It nice the the unit comes with a well designed pouch to contain this adapter with a netted pocked on each side to hold the 2 power cords (the AC and the DC cord).

Strengths: Easy to use Great for traveling (in the car or plane) Works with all thinkpads DC car+airplane adapater is in the same plug
Weaknesses: Some are grounded, so not all outlets will work Large size Still hot to the touch Weight
Summary: The only solution if you use your thinkpad on planes/in the car

I bought this for traveling overseas, its a 72W adapter which means it will work with all current IBM laptops. There are two plugs for the different cords, which a sliding cover. There is one cord that is DC, with a detachable DC car adapter, over the airplane plug. The other cord is the normal AC cord, usually in the US it is a 2 prong cord, while sometimes you may get a 3 prong, which just means you need a grounded outlet.
