Strengths: Excellent range, the previous model lost the connection down one floor and over a couple rooms, this one can cover the entire house and out into the backyard (now I can sit in my jacuzzi and talk).
Weaknesses: Boom mike is not as easy to flip up and down (you have to hold the earpiece in place) as was the older model; to mute you have to press the decrease volume button twice in one second (very awkward).
Summary: I got this to replace my two year old GN wireless headset model 9020-D which I purchased for about $200. The repalcement cost about the same price and has 1) much longer roaming range and 2) rechargeable batteries.

Except for the limited range there was really nothing wrong with the previous model except the battery was substantially drained so that even after recharging it was only good for an hour or two. Turns out the older model did not have a rechargeable battery so when it dies in a few years you basically have to scrap the unit. Thanks GNN. I could have squeezed another year or so out of it, but decided to upgrade and this one is rechargeable.

The old model's mute button was a separate button but this new model takes a step back and makes you punch a volume button twice to mute. That's a negative.

The worst problem remains answering the phones of course, especially if you have a two line phone. I've never tried the remote phone lifter but am skeptical that will work. When they finally figure out an elegant solution that allows you to answer and disconnect calls, and switch lines, solely from the headset, that will be the next upgrade.

Strengths: Range, comfort, sound quality
Weaknesses: Can't answer or hang up calls from headset; Needs noise-cancelling feature
Summary: I'm using the GN 9120 with a Nortel 7316 phone which has a special headset port, so it is very easy to make and answer calls and the GN headset lifter is not required. This headset has greatly improved my productivity, making it possible to do things all around our 4,000 sq ft office while on hold, talking to a caller, or performing tasks related to tech support calls. Callers report that my voice quality is excellent. Potential improvements would include the ability to answer calls from the headset and limit the pickup of background noise (e.g., I can hear the click of the keyboard through the headset when I type).

Strengths: Easy to configure. Light weight. Good range.
Weaknesses: Earpiece volume could be louder for noisy work environment.
Summary: Very happy with the product overall. Having a cordless headset works much better than a corded headset. If I had it to do over again I would purchase the upgrade to be able to answer and hang up from the headset.
