Strengths: Awesome features
Weaknesses: Freeze up problems - read below for solution!
Summary: I was 100% satisfied with this player -- the features are awesome. After 2 months, however, the unit started to freeze immediately after starting up. I tried everything - letting the battery drain, resetting the unit 20+ times, etc, and it constantly froze up when I started it up. All my computers said "USB Device not recognized" when I plugged it into them. Nothing played, and the clock on it stated the current time it started up, and it froze there. I was ready to go to Samsung for an RMA...
...when my wife did something I didn't think of doing. She reset the unit, so, it was powered down. She then plugged it it into her laptop without turning it on at all, and wala! She could see ALL the MP3s on the unit! After she erased all of the MP3s from it, she put back on one, and boom! the thing powers up and works beautifully!
Puzzled, I was to the point where I assumed that one (or more) of the MP3s that were copied to the unit were causing the freezeup. We went through all the MP3s, and got rid of ALL the MP3s with bitrates that weren't 128kbps, 160kbps, or 192kbps (I read somewhere that this player didnt do anything over 192kbps, not sure if thats true). We loaded the unit back up after ensuring they were all one of the 3 "standard" bitrates, and it works beautifully!
I seriously hope this information may help others of you who have this same problem. I have a feeling its just one of your MP3s thats corrupted / or an incorrect bitrate that this player might not support.

Strengths: Great audio quality with other earbuds.
Very light and portable with a huge flash memory (1gb)
Weaknesses: I find it very small and actually a inconvience to attach to waitband whle I run.
Summary: Overall I like the Samsung 1GB MP3 player. I highly recommend it as long as you know how truely small it is. Again has as high a audio quality as I have heard on any player (including the ipod) but I do suggest to get a higher quality earbud to take full advantage.
The screen is pretty small (but very nice) so picture viewing and text reading can be a strain at times. However I feel this is just a benefit from a MP3 player and not the main reason why I use it.

Strengths: great sound with a lot of nice features. small, versatile
Weaknesses: Difficult to swith between menus, playlists. Battery life much less than 15 hours
Summary: All in all an exceptional product for the price. It was a bit cumbersome navigating through the menu at first. Able to load songs quickly if you have a newer PC with a fast processor.

Strengths: It plays *.oggs and it plays both oggs and mp3s at higher quality based than the manual or the US sales force believes
Weaknesses: Might be too tiny buttons for a lot of folks w/ larger fingers AND it does need to have your reading glasses on if you have reach the age where you need them.
Summary: only Slightly larger than a Zippo lighter this is perfect for what I was looking for. An uncomplex, tiny and lightweight music player for drowning out engine sounds on cross country flights, running on a treadmill, or other gym workouts.
It does that job extra-ordinarily well w/ the addition of decent ear phones. Which we already own! The earphones that come w/ it are okay, but not great. And for folks w/ very small ear canals, they can be uncomfortable.
On the really good side, under Linux, you need install nothing for it to do it's job out of the box. It "just works" You can drag and drop your music, plug your phones in, clip it to your belt and be out and about in the length of time it takes to get it fully charged up and decide which files you want.
I'm not sure how long the battery will work, but the 10 hrs it claims will get me cross country. Haven't yet taken a cross country trip w/ it. so I don't guaranty it *will* go cross country w/o needing a charge. YMMV
It has the proper usb cable w/ it and also has a nifty connector that will let you connect to a computer w/o a cable, it's just the connectors one end for the unit and the other end a computer usb port size.
It is small as I said at the outset, but doesn't have a cheaply made feel to it, the buttons and weight of the object feel solid, and so far at least behave as one would expect!
One caveat, the battery isn't removeable, tho I haven't looked into replacing them, for a charge at the compay. OTH, it might very well be by that time the price of the unit will be less than the price of a lithium ion battery!
You can get 18+hrs of mp3s on the thing at the stated 128bps recording . You can also get it to play quality based oggs and, apparently, mp3s at higher bitrates . At least the demo piece on the unit is an mp3 recorded at 193bps.
Of course the larger your files the fewer you get on the unit. So that will take some experimentation to hit a happy medium, and it only arrived on Tuesday.
The really big surprise is the sales office/help line claims it probably won't play oggs at all. But it does, and it needs no firmware upgrades to do it. if you are looking for this sort of form factor, and you are not looking for one of the units w/ a builtin hard drive or a removeable flash drive.. this is a good way to go.

Strengths: Color screen, lots of features, compact design, quality sound
Weaknesses: Uncomfortable earphones
Summary: I bought a 1GB version and am fully happy with it. It has everything you can ask for from an MP3 player: color screen, FM radio, ability to view pics, audio recording, compact design, quality sound, fast transfer, etc.
If you like features, this one is definitely for you. You name it, it has it.
Its simple and efficient design turned my co-workers heads. I like its compact design, but it's so small that it slipped out of my hands once. I put on the belt clip that came with it, and had a better grip. Because it weighs only 1.2 oz, you won't even feel it when you wear it on your waist or won't be inconvenienced when you use the included neck strap. The buttons felt too small at first (I have above-average size hands), but ease of control makes up for it.
The included earphones are not very comfortable, so if you have better ones try those.
This one is similarly priced with iRivers, which is a bit more than its competitors. But, I think it's totally worth the price. You get what you pay for. It offers more features, better design, a slimmer body, and a fancier screen. This is a premier package.
I have owned it for two weeks now and never had any problem with it.

Strengths: Very small (about the size of two AAA batteries)
Easy to carry around
Lith. battery works great, average use of 3days before recharging.
Sounds great and FM Tuner is another reason why i bought it.
Weaknesses: Maybe it's too small, you can easily lose it.
Lith. batter last 10hrs is short.
LCD is not for TEXT reading unless u want to squint.
Summary: Don't spend more than $200 for a unit this small unless you have $200 sitting around.
If you will be doing alot of sports activities..walking/running around and will be listening to MP3s/Radio, this is perfect for you!

Its a very nice and very nice looking unit undenia ...
Strengths: Very petite and practical size, color screen, very useable controls, decent headphones, unbelievable weight of almost an ounce. Great sound, plenty of included accessories.
Weaknesses: Not too user friendly as the Rio player, at times the unit freezes. Also even though it states that it has over 65,000 color screen, the unit not compareable to a GSM Phones with 65,000 color screen.
Summary: 2005-03-03 10:55:57 Its a very nice and very nice looking unit undeniably, but for its cost I also feel that it should have been a bit more superior than it already is, in fields such as not freezing up, a better color screen, better headphones, and a replaceable battery for user accessability to it.
In addition its rather Kinda sad that in these days you can spend about $200.00 dollars for a piece of electronics and only get a blister card package not even in a box, wow very sad. what is this world coming too?

Strengths: Stores anything, it's small simple and has a great sound. Used it to store pictures to show someone else. Lots of features that I have yet to work with.
Weaknesses: Small buttons and pause seems to turn it off. I think that is something that I am doing. Ah yes, back to reading the manual. Also the ear buds are of acceptiable quality for ear buds. I like head sets
Summary: MP3 players keep getting smaller and this is one very small item for so many functions. The unit is a general computer in that you upgrade the operating system when they have an update on their web site.

Strengths: Rechargeable battery that last a long time. Easy interface. Small in size. Works well.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Summary: Very happy with this small player. I get about 10 hours between battery charges, works nice. Volume can easily be adjusted even when running. And after re-formatting the 1GB from FAT to FAT32, I was able to use the entire 1GB. Use Windows Explorer to add & remove songs or pictures.

Strengths: - Very small
- Crisp Display
- Large storage (for flash based)
- FM
- FM Recording
- Voice Recording
- Image Viewer
- Clean Design
- Great Sound Quality
- Loads of Features
Weaknesses: When I first got it, it sometimes froze up. (Dosn't anymore)
Summary: When I first got this occasionally the Mp3 would freeze up when I transfered files onto it. It doesn't do that anymore after using it for several months. That could of happened because I bought it refurbished and sent by mail. I Found that if you moved the directional button while it started up it would not freeze. Other than that this unit is one of the sweetest mp3's I have seen for its size. The stock earbuds are short and don't output too clear of a sound. For a few bucks go out and buy some earbuds to replace the stock ones. The sound is excellent and this little gem can output loud volume. The screen size is a little small but thats understandable due to the size of the unit. Great image quality for viewing images. I was surprised how great the sounds the unit could pick up on voice recording. Transferring files could never be easier. Big storage size for an mp3. What else can I say, I am very pleased with this Mp3, consider this instead of the ipod.

Strengths: compact, small light. Easy to carry. Good sound, nice colors on the screen.
Weaknesses: the colors are a useless extra feature screen is too small to use the full utility. The neck strap doesn't "fall" it kind of stays bent and is like wearing a wire around your neck. The headphones that come with the product are average to poor. they are
Summary: The MP3 player is superb, useful, you can store pictures on it. It was a gift for my brother-in-law, but i got to use it for a month, The battery life is superb as well. I will lprobably buy this for myself or wait for a newer model. If you want an excellent MP3 player for a fair price (and you aren't too picky about headphones or are willing to upgrade them) then this is the MP3 player for you. Also you can upload files so if you are travelling you don't really need a separate mp3 player and flash disk. its an all in one type deal
