Strengths: Compact , Easy to use ,Good quality
Weaknesses: Not real happy with the wiring ,Very lightweight , should use a little heavier guage.
Summary: 2004-03-14 18:58:35 The xm carkit is compact and easy to use. XM receiver snaps right into cradle. The antenna is small and with its magnetic back will hold well to the roof of your car , my only complaint is the wiring isnt a very heavy guage , and im afraid that might be a problem down the road. I also used the optional modulater, so i wouldnt have to use the cassette adapter . However i went back to using the cassette because you get a cleaner sound. The modulater is only as good as your radio reception ,while the cassette is direct. This unit that i purchased through pricegrabber is my second, so that i can move the reciever easily between my two cars.

Strengths: Portable,flexibility
Weaknesses: Cost,sound quality/volume, car cradle
Summary: I have the Delphi boombox/car adaptor system. I like the ability to pop the receiver into either and I find myself carrying the receiver everywhere.

As others have posted, it appears to be a bit overpriced given that the guts of the system is in the receiver.

My car stereo with the Delphi cassette adaptor has a "buzz" when playing. Not the best quality sound. Also it's difficult to crank up the tunes, the volume appears to be limited with the adaptor.

I'm wondering if one of the FM adaptors that work with MP3 players that allow you to play on unused FM channels might work with this and eliminate the buzz and increase the volume.

The car cradle allows the receiver to be snapped in easily but they use a cheap glue strip to attach it to the dash. Otherwise, it lays on the car floor and you have to reach down to change stations. I've seen holders that clamp to the console but it's another 30-35 bucks. Might look into some Velcro .

I have a Delphi FM adaptor for the XM radio but I'm reluctant to hardwire that in a vehicle I might trade/sell in the next 6 months.

Overall, I'm satisfied but the system could be better.

Strengths: you can have the flexibility of having XM Radio in car, home or boombox
Weaknesses: way too many wires!!!!! cords & connections everywhere & if you don't have a cassette player, you cannot use this
Summary: Gives the flexibility of having XM Radio in your car, but also home & boombox. The XM Radio itself is great! I love driving without commercials! However, there are way too many cords going all over the place! One cord for the antenna (which is way long for a car!), one cord for the power (cigarrette adapter), and one more cord for the cassette adapter. All cords are very long (except the power cord), so you have to keep them bundled & it looks ugly. The antenna, although easy to mount, sometimes loses its satellite transmission, so it fades in & out when you drive near power lines. I think I would rather buy an XM-ready radio or something, although you would then lose the flexibility of taking it with you. I don't think I would opt to buy this again.

Strengths: Installation is easy and trouble free.
Weaknesses: Not enough versatility of mounting options.
Summary: No problems with installation or use. It would be nice to have some type of bottom mount. This unit does not mount well in a 2003 Buick Regal. I had to find a floor mount and place it on a board sitting on the hump. I did not want to mount it on the dashboard.

Strengths: car cradle works well
Weaknesses: not very neat install, a bit over-priced at $70
Summary: This is for use with the Delphi XM receiver to allow the receiver to be used in the vehicle. It comes with a dash mount cradle, casette adapter, and antenna.

This works okay, but if you just have CD head unit, you are out of luck. I feel it is over-priced at $70, and I think the available FM modulation unit (SA10003) is probably a better option and definitely allows for a much cleaner install
