Strengths: Price, easy setup, excellent video and audio playback. Very attractive unit.
Weaknesses: Passive sub... I don't have a problem with this, but some might. This unit plays very loud without distortion. The remote could be better. Its plastic, and has a flimsy slinding panel.
Summary: The technical specifications listed are incomplete. This unit also does DTS decoding. Also plays DVD audio! Has multiple edit-able soundfield setups for Dolby II when you use that for your older (non DD or DTS) material. You can also adjust the delay timing for your center and rear channnel speakers, to compensate for speaker placement. Progressive scan DVD with 3:2 pulldown for smooth movie playback. I use this beautiful little gem in my everyday home theater setup. I use component video output to my HDTV for excellent picture quality (with great sound of course). Has digital optical audio input, which I use to connect the audio from my HD OTA set top box. The speakers are slightly larger and heavier than some systems. They also have an angled back (about 30 degrees), with a keyhole slot for hanging on wall. Speakers point down (about 30 degrees) when hung, no speaker mounts needed. This worked great for me, as I have mine fairly high up on the wall. There is also a screw attachment provided if you prefer regular speaker wall mounts. No mounts for center. When I researched this unit, I found that early made units had problems with overheating, fan not working, automatic shutoff. I have had NONE of these issues with HEAVY usage. I don't think Samsung is still making these units, as its not on their website anymore. So if you want one, get it fast. The remote is sort of chintzy, and not well laid out. A pity, because in all other respects this is a fine little unit.
