Strengths: Great product.
Weaknesses: Installation is a pain. DO NOT use the CD comes with the product. Go out to the Linksys website and download the driver instead, even though it has the same version level.
Summary: 2003-10-24 15:50:58 Tech support could not help me with the installation problem. I thought that I got a lemon. Took me 2 nights to get it going with tips about the bad CD. The sad thing is that I need to connect with wire first to download the file in order to use this wireless card. How many people send this card back for the wrong reason!!!

Strengths: Signal strength is great.
Weaknesses: Looses signal periodically.
Summary: The wireless PCI adapter is great for long range wireless network. I works well through wall, across various rooms including a kitchen. The signal strength is great through walls. The only problem is the adapter looses signal periodically and throws you offline. Using it with the Linkys WRT54G which is an excellent wireless G router.

Strengths: The WRT54GS appears to have a much greater range than the older WRT54G and is more stable when transferring large amounts of data. Of course, WPA/WPA2/Radius support is also nice.
Weaknesses: None, but they changed the menu format. Also, it appears that the automatic configuration seems to upset non-Linksys adapters on the network a bit thereby requiring a manual reset.
Summary: I have always found Linksys to make best-of-breed products. This latest version of their wireless router is no exception. There is not really that much one can say about a router. Either it supports all the latest security protocols and is reliable or it doesn't. The WRT54GS meets that standard.

3 Star ReviewAn update from the previous posting of a couple of ...
Strengths: Signal is great, only took 3 weeks to get it to work!
Weaknesses: painful support
Summary: 2003-12-06 08:48:39 An update from the previous posting of a couple of weeks ago: Sent both cards back to the seller and two new ones sent (new egg is awesome!). Had new version CD, so I had hope... Nope! Still can't install from it. The old driver DOES NOT WORK (3.23.) Download the driver from linksys and use the new one (3.30.15.0) under advanced install of update driver in device manager.

Once I stumbled on this accidently, it works great! It would be nice of Linksys to man up and tell the first driver doesn't work, and provide the proper driver on the website. And support doesn't know this?

Strengths: Great signal, easy to install and setup, hides nicely in back of computer
Weaknesses: Occasionally the signal drops and my connection disappears, don't know why.
Summary: This is a great card. I love having wireless internet in my bedroom and anywhere else in the house. It was a piece of cake to setup for me. I don't know what the other people are talking about with the tough setup, it was so easy for me. Maybe I have a different CD than they did, but I did not have any problems.

Overall, I love this product and now I can play games on my own home network. Also, the transfer rate is plenty fast, but if you are only using it for internet sharing then it doesn't really matter what speed you go because the internet doesn't even work at 54G, way faster than internet connection. But no complaints here.

Strengths: Antenna falls off quite nicely!
Weaknesses: poor reception, updated drivers cause device to malfunction. performance is not worth the price.
Summary: i bought this product 9/2003 and every couple of months it frustrates me to no end. if the antenna is nudged at all (including if the PC case is moved slightly) it comes off, causing a total loss of signal. it then must be forced on by hand and then left alone. i have to be very careful when removing or plugging in USB cables not to touch the antenna.

the only driver that works in this device is the original driver from the CD (3.17 i think). any newer driver causes complete loss of connectivity. good thing XP has a rollback feature.

my PC is approximately 50 feet away from the router (WRT54G), one floor above. no sources of interference in between, such as large metal objects, and no cordless phones in the house. i am lucky if i get any connection better than "fair" and "poor" is common. typical speed is 36mbps according to XP.

although i have never used any other PCI wireless network devices, i would not purchase the WMP54G for more than $5.00. i do not recommend this product.

2 Star ReviewWirless G PCI Adapter 54MPBS 2.4GHz
Strengths: Works like any other wireless card, when it wants to.
Weaknesses: 1) Antenna is always loose. 2) Signal always keep dropping. 2) Reception sucks.
Summary: As a technician, I bought two of this PCI Adapter. Both had the same problem. Linksys had a bug/glitch in their batch of software for the cds that were included this model. You can download the software for the same version or use a previous version. But overall, as long as you know how to use the Windows configuration. All you really need is the drivers for the hardware. About $35-$40 bucks a card. Too much money for the trouble.

Strengths: Excellent price and easy to install.
Weaknesses: none
Summary: I already own the wireless-B version of this card so my expectations were high and the new model did not let me down. I never loose my connection to the network, it was easy to install and it was reasonably priced.

Strengths: Strong signal, VERY FAST, easy to install, no problems whatsoever!
Weaknesses: Kind of a big antenna, but I'm not complaining!
Summary: I was very hesitant to get a wireless card for my PC, I guess I had this stigma about wireless being slow and unreliable from past experiences. I am easily able to get 7-800KB/s download from the Internet, and once I figured out that having the router too close to my cordless phone caused it to lose the connection whenever I hung up, I haven't had any problems with it since. Highly recommended!

Strengths: Good signal strength and transparent operation.
Weaknesses: Setup
Summary: We initially installed the adaptor before installing the software and this crashed our computer. Once we got the computer back up (it took several days) and installed the software first the installation worked.

Strengths: Easy to install and configure software, excellent signal reception at my usage distance (~20 feet). Does not use a USB port.
Weaknesses: Took a bit of jimmying to get the card to insert into the PCI slot in my computer. This effort seemed like slightly more than most PCI cards.
Summary: I am very satisfied overall with this product. After a small amount of trouble installing the card in the PCI slot, everything has been working seamlessly.

Strengths: Works fine, great signal.
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: 2008-09-10 11:51:25 The wireless adapter works as it should. Signal does not drop, connection speeds seem fine (but I haven't really tested anything out). I prefer these internal cards to a usb since they get better signals with much less hassle.
