Strengths: Elegant looking, Excellent sound, fm tuner/recorder, voice recording, picture viewing, color lcd
Weaknesses: navigation could be better
Summary: It has the excellent sound out of all 6-7 different brand of mp3 players I have owned. Fm tuner with recording capability is a cool feature to record songs from the radio. Voice recording is another plus and does very good recording and builtin microphone is sensitive enough to record lecture, provided hard drive is big enough to not worry about space.

Color lcd is a big plus to view pictures. The player looks elegant, slim and very attractive. Case also comes with the player, which is very good. Battery is removable so that extra battery is quite handy.

Strengths: Size, Sound, Easy to control, Come with FM and voice recording, Color LCD, Good price.
Weaknesses: The filmware come with the player got a lot of bugs, but the new update fixed them all. Can't view the pictures on TV.
Summary: Great sound, with LCD screen. Its very easy to control, software supplied is great. I own a iPod mini, but have to say this one is way better. Its got FM, Voice recording, it can store pictures, and you can even set timmer for the FM recording. iPod min have non of these function. I bought this H10 brand new on ebay for around $160, which is even cheaper then iPod Mini.

The bettery life is not that long, but is accpetble. Even know if the bettery dies, you can buy another one and put it in your self, unlike any iPod you have to send them in.

I highly recommend this iRiver H10 over iPod Mini

Strengths: Best sound. Fast music/file transfer. Easy to use. Bettery is removeble. Color LCD. FM Radio with .record timmer. Case inculded in the box.
Weaknesses: Just like all other color LCD, when the light is off if unreadble.
Summary: I got this H10 off ebay brand new for $160, it worked really well. Before I bought this, I did a lot research online, and I read all the user reviews I could find online. Don't know if people are making stuff up, or I just got lucky, all the problems they are saying did not happen on my H10. I didn't find any bug in fimware, version 2 comes with it. My computer is custom made and have no problem connecting with the player. The sound, have to say its better then my firends iPod Mini. I tested the sound with the same song, and the sound come out iPod is just crappy compare to H10.

It comes with Color LCD, it can view photos, expect the screen is kind of small. The recording sound is great, very easy to use. FM turner is also a great feature, it even let you set timmer for when to start recording and when to stop.

About the bettery, one important thing that I choose H10 but not iPod. The bettery is removeble, even know if the bettery dies, you don't have to send the whole player to the company and pay $50 + Shipping + handing to get a new bettery. iRiver H10's bettery is removeble, you can buy another for 40 bucks and put it on your self. The bettery life if just as described, around 12 hr. On other people's review they said things like their H10's bettery only last around 5, 6 hour.. I guess they just didn't read the instruction manual at the first place.

I highly recommend this mp3 player over iPod Mini, and Creative Zen Micro. (Almost everybody I know who own Creative Zen Micro have problem with sound coming out only 1 ear)

Strengths: Quality, color screen, features, menu, FM tuner
Weaknesses: A little large for a 5GB, small buttons
Summary: 2005-07-15 22:24:09 I purchased this to replace a Samsung YH-820 that I was just not happy with. I am very pleased with my decision. I liked the size and style of the Samsung but the iRiver makes up for those weaknesses in quality. The H10 comes with a case that protects it as well as provides a very secure belt clip. The only problem I have with the case is that it covers the side buttons, and those buttons are too small to easily feel through the rubber when you try to pause or skip songs. The screen is better than the Samsung which would help with pictures, something I don’t use it for. The menu navigation is easy to use and has the “all” feature that the Samsung didn’t have (very important to me). The ear bud phones have decent sound, but like most ear buds they don’t fit my ears in a way to get optimum sound, plus they fall out when I run. I don’t understand why they don’t make them with rubber flanges that hold them in your ears like the Sony replacements I just bought (another review). The sound quality is excellent with plenty of volume in most any environment. The FM tuner is the best I have used in a portable device. The reception and sound quality is great and it has presets. One thing I'm not to fond of is the touch scroll. Though it’s not as bad as the iPod click wheel, I still would rather have a scroll wheel than the touch sensitive volume control. Don’t these companies ever test them with sweaty hands from exercising? The touch sensitive stuff just doesn’t work that well.

Strengths: color creen, FM tuner, FM recording, mapster to go compatbile
Weaknesses: firmware needs to be upgraded immediately.
Summary: small size, color screen is really nice. FM tuner is above average compared to other mp3 player tuners. Menu takes a little getting used to but it dosent take very long. Firmware update allows you to actually see the song names on the player. Good news is the updating the firmware couldnt be easier. You canb get the update from www.iriveramerica.com.

Strengths: weight, size, color screen, scroll wheel
Weaknesses: lack of accessories and battery life
Summary: I really think this is the best mp3 player out there for the price. The color screen is brilliant and it's easy to operate. The FM tuner also has a recorder so you can record you favorite radio station songs. The voice recorder can also come in handy for lectures or self notes. The battery life isn't 12 hours especially if you allow the backlight to stay on for any length of time. Purchase a different set of headphones (I have a pair of Sony earbuds for $12) to make the sound more clear. It also has a wide range of equalizier choices to change for your listening preferences. The iPod only beats the iRiver on available accessories, but they are pretty pricey.

Strengths: color screen, small size, user controls overall looks
Weaknesses: cheap rubber case, no screen protection possibly not loud enough?? Price
Summary: The color screen looks beautiful, though maybe a bit over the top, unless you plan on storing photos on your H10. I love the SIZE of this Mp3 player. Controls are fairly user friendly. Installation software was pretty straightforward, so most novice computer users should have no probelm downloading music to it. Works with Napster subscription.

Overall it has very good sound with alot of individual control over the playback sound(has equalizer adjustment controls) if one cares to play with it. I love the compact size and solid feel of my H10. Comes in a variety of colors to please everyone. Price($279) seems a little bit high but when I purchased it, it had just arrived on the market. I'm sure the price will come down as Apple has just come out with their latest line of IPOD's

Strengths: color lcd, 5g storage, fm radio, recording capability
Weaknesses: menu control could be smoothier, fm radio quality need to be improved
Summary: i choosed iriver h10 player over apple ipod mini because of its color screen,

larger storage, fm radio, and recording capability.

voice wise, iriver h10 also beats ipod mini hands down, with rich mixer settings

and stronger bass.

control wise, iriver has a vertical touchpad for menu navigation which does the same

good job as ipod mini's touchwheel.

overall i'm satisfied with this cool gadget and would like recommending to guys who

need a versatile hard drive based mp3 player.

3 Star ReviewThe unit uses build-in lion battery which could ho ...
Strengths: Multi-functional, MP3 + FM radio + Voice Recorder + Image Viewer. Excellent sounds.
Weaknesses: Button and menu implementation should be more intuitive
Summary: The unit uses build-in lion battery which could hold 8 hours continous play. To transfer tunes, you actually just need open up Microsoft Media Player 10, and plug the player to the USB port, the media player will automatically recognize the Iriver H10, and all the music sync, image sync opeartion is similiar to Itune.

There are 2 buttons and 1 touchable-slide-bar for menu control, and there are buttons on the side of unit to control power, lock, and volume. I didn't find the menu and button implementation are as good and intuitive as Ipod.

There are plenty playback equalizer adjustments and the sound is crisp.

The player is so small that it will easily fit in a pocket or your hand.

FM sound quality is good, and tuner presets let you pop directly to a favorite station with ease.

The built-in microphone is adequate for voice recordings but may not suffice in noisy environments.

A good alternative of Ipod mini

Strengths: proven iriver quality, color screen, fm tuner is decent, voice recording is good, ability to view pics
Weaknesses: need windows xp for north america version, small screen size, expensive for 5GB player, navigating takes some getting used to
Summary: this player is a great alternative to the all too common ipod mini. i love the look of this player and the fact that it has a color screen. the earphones that come with the player are better than most but buying separate ones is something to consider as you cant take advantage of the bass with the supplied earphones. i love the size, its a tiny bit bigger than ipod mini.

the main reason i bought this player was because i got it cheaper than the ipod mini 4GB and this one has way more features and 5GB. but is it worth it at the price it retails for? (more than ipod mini, rio 5GB player, samsung 5GB, etc.) IMO, its not worth it unless u REALLY want the color screen (which is just a gimick because the screen is so small) and if u can find a cheap one on ebay.

Strengths: Picture viewing,Great sceen, FM Radio, Rechargable battery,Good Sound Quality
Weaknesses: Ear Buds, Firmware, Categorizing music and Syncing new songs or editing info a little glichy even with new firmware, but can be gotten use to
Summary: Over all a great product. Could be a little easier to use as far as software goes. Quality of music is great but could use a little more in volume department when you want to crank it up. Many more features for the Buck than competion.

Strengths: 5GB for a VERY low price. Long battery life. Has a recorder on it which has come in VERY handy. Radio too. Holds text and pictures.
Weaknesses: You can't create a playlist.
Summary: I LOVE my iriver. I paid $67 for an mp3 player that does ALL of the above. Compare that to the 4GB iPod. Yeah. I don't mind not being able to order a playlist at all. It comes with a very nice pear of headphones too. The iRiver ROCKS!
