Strengths: Crisp, clear, powerful sound; pure digital output
Weaknesses: Expensive
Summary: Pure digital is the way to go, if you can afford it. This receiver far outperforms the meager 50W/channel it claims. Sound output is crisp, clear, and powerful on my 5.1 speaker set. This receiver performs absolutely flawlessly while watching DVDs and playing games.

I can't think of many negatives, other than the high MSRP. Again, don't be fooled by the 50W/channel...this receiver can drive all but the most powerful speakers.

Strengths: Awesome remote control. Extremly powerful receiver. The most amazing sound I have ever heard from an in home receiver. Amazing deal considering the MSRP is $1500, and well worth even that price.
Weaknesses: Can be a little tough to set up for inexperienced users, however not too bad. I have found no real weaknesses of this remote, it has only exceeded my expectations!
Summary: Amazing Receiver! This unit is extremly powerful. Don't let the 50 watts per chnnel fool you. The sound level comming from your speakers depends on amps not watts. The 50 watts per channel is compararable to 130 watts on a Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, or any other brand reciever.

The romote can be programmed for just about any piece of electronic equipment out there. Eliminates the need for multiple remotes!!

I have mine hooked up to Klipsch speakers and the sound put out by this reciever is amazing. When I watch a movie at home I feel like im in a movie theater. The sound comming from a digital receiver is amazing and this unit definetly exceeds the standards. I highly recommend this unit. It is well worth the money and a whole lot more.

Strengths: Custome configurations and clear-clean sound
Weaknesses: Remote control
Summary: The reciever is very easy to program and does support a wide variety of speaker configurations.

The "night mode"- which allows two compression modes (high and medium) that limit program peaks allows me to watch movies without constantly turning up and down the volume so I do not bother my neighbors - is a great feature.

The smart remote that comes with the reciever is great except for two problems:

1. I cannot program macros. No matter how much I have tried, I cannot get a power-up/down macro to work.

2. When you are using a particular input, the remote control constantly returns to AVR control. In other words, if you are trying to watch a TV program recorded on your VCR and try to fast forward through commercials, you must punch the VCR input select button on the remote for every command you are sending to the VCR.

Most remote controls will stay in the particular input control mode until you change modes. This is EXTREMLY frustrating!!!

There is a punch through setting that will allow you to control your VCR channel select button so you don't have to keep hitting the VCR input select button when changing channels, but be careful - if you make a mistake, you may have to reset the remote and re-enter all previous commands.
