Strengths: Price, fast processor, still offered Windows XP (through June 18, 2008), free shipping
Weaknesses: Only one color choice (black)
Summary: I own two Dell Vostro 1500 laptops. The Dell website is easy to navigate for anyone who wants to build an affordable system. For my recent purchase, I paid $499 with the following features and upgrades: Intel Core Duo T5270, 2GB RAM, 250 GB HD, 8X CD/DVD+RW to read and burn CDs & DVDs. I own one Vostros with a TrueLife screen, a higher contrast display to enhance colors for graphics, movies, etc. The other Vostros has an anti-glare screen, whish is great for everyday computer use. It eliminates reflections, which reduces eye strain. The 6-cell lithium battery gives me a few days of use for when I travel. Like other computers I have owned, the bottom of the laptop does get warm. I always use a notebook cooler to reduce overheating. This computer has a lot of high-end features for a very low price. I highly recommend it as long as you upgrade some options.
