Strengths: Dremel reliability, reasonable price, easy to find, includes stencil, makes permanent id
Weaknesses: a little difficult to control at first
Summary: We needed to engrave my son's laptop PC and other valuables for college. We really like Dremel products, so when we saw Dremel has an engraver, it was an easy decision to buy one. Price Grabber helped us locate it at a nearby Lowe's store. The plastic stencil makes it easier to use at first. A better stencil would be nice; that is, one out of metal that has slightly wider openings. With practice, though, it's easier to use without a stencil.
Now that we have an engraver, we'll finally get around to engraving all of the things we're supposed to engrave in case of a burglary--TVs, PCs, etc. We have another child that will head to college in a couple of years, so we'll need it then, too.
I recommend this engraver because it does exactly what it is supposed to do for a reasonable price. There's no cost-effective substitute for an engraver to make permanent label. Dremel products hold up well, so I expect to use it for many years.
