 When rating this monitor I would call it very aver ... Strengths: Slim, Stylish, Not Overly Expensive
Weaknesses: Refresh rate, Screen Durability, No Digital Input
Summary: When rating this monitor I would call it very average. Based upon PriceGrabber’s rating system I would have to rate it with 2 stars because I would not purchase this model again. This does not mean that it is unsatisfactory for certain uses.
The Good:
This monitor has a small profile and pivots on a rotational disk under the base. It is also able to tilt a few degrees up and down. Colors are represented well on the screen and for normal word processing and email use, it is fine. The resolution is also decent at 1280 x 1024.
The Bad:
This monitor has some serious refresh issues. Certain colors will cause the monitor to seemingly create static on regions of the display. This is a big issue when doing anything in PhotoShop. This monitor also seems prone to pixel problems. I am on my second one due to some dead pixels in the middle of the screen. I have two dead ones on the edge now; I’m living with it for the moment. The only input is VGA. Video games and Movies with frame rates over 15fps seem to have major ghosting problems.
Suggestion:
Don’t cheap out and get a budget LCD unless you are only going to use it for word processing.
Dell offers another line of premium LCD monitors, the “UltraSharp” displays that should not be confused with their low end displays.
