3 Star Reviewdecent phone with 2 handsets
Strengths: easy menu to navigate and operate; built-in answering machine is well built.
Weaknesses: style is a turn off, retro look; 5.8GHZ is not as good as DECT
Summary: This is supposed to be the top tier model from Uniden, but its functions are not as complete as its predecessor which had a USB connection capability. The style is a disappointment. It looks a little cheezy. The base is too big and takes too much desk space. Uniden must be trying to save some cost with this model and move on to the DECT version, which has better battery duration and the technology allows lighter and smaller handsets. The transferable phonebook function is nice.

Strengths: Slim ergonomic design, brightly lit blue buttons, white backlit LCD on base and handsets. Dial pad on base is nice. Speakerphone works great on handset & base.
Weaknesses: Call quality varies, low receive volume. Available ringtones are horrible.
Summary: A answering machine/phone combo that combines the most common features one would expect from a reputable company like Uniden. The TRU9585-2 although simple in many respects, boasts a few traits that are far from. Capable of accommodating up to 10 handsets, utilizing 5.8GHz with Uniden's frequency hopping technology (FHSS), I am very happy to report that despite the numerous wireless and WiFi devices I use, there were no problems with interference in any way!

Only complaint I have is that the call quality does seem a bit muffled - unlike other various Uniden phones I have used over the years. Also, the volume maxed out still seems a bit low with most calls unfortunately. Uniden could have done better with the ringtones available which I thought were all annoying. Would be nice if recording your own ringtone was possible!

Overall, a very simplistic and elegant phone with good features and it performs each very well. Stylish design without falling short on function, combined with the flexibility to expand up to 10 handsets make this a very good choice for those looking for a dual handset phone combined with a digital answering machine.
