Strengths: Attractive appearance, ease of use
Weaknesses: Lack of timer and questionable temperature settings.
Summary: The unit is attractive and very compact. It did a first class job of broiling a steak. It toasts, bakes and top browns very well. It lacks a timer instead of which one of the knobs slowly rotates from its initial setting to OFF. The range of rotation is not calibrated in minutes so a bit of guess work is involved. After rotation is complete the XU-400 shuts off so it is not possible to bake for a specific length of time without resetting the knob periodically. I tested it with an oven thermometer which read 400 degrees with the XU-400 set for 370. Not a big minus but it needs to be taken into consideration. Although I haven't owned it for long I have tried out all the options and consider it a good buy for the price.
