Strengths: Affordable, Front Auxiliary Port for iPod or other MP3 players, Easy to install after you can get your previous car receiver out
Weaknesses: Small buttons, Somewhat difficult to remove attachable face, AM radio has static, Slow to load CD's that contain MP3 files
Summary: I bought the JVC KD-G510 because it has a front auxiliary port for an iPod or other MP3 players, and it's very affordable. I don't have a MP3 player right now, but one of my friends says the front auxiliary port is very convenient.
Installing the actual KD-G510 is easy. You just have to figure out how to remove the previous car receiver. I have a 2002 Honda Civic and it took a while (2 hours) to take out the necessary panels to remove the factory-installed unit.
CD playback is good. The unit is somewhat slow to load CD's that contain MP3 files. The unit has small buttons so it's probably not good for people with big fingers. The detachable face is somewhat difficult to remove and place back.
I did notice one quality difference from my factory-installed unit. I listen to AM radio sometimes for sports talk programs, and the KD-G510 doesn't receive AM stations clearly. I hear static, especially noticeable at higher volumes. The factory-installed unit was clearer on AM channels.
Overall, I'm satisfied with the KD-G510. I bought the unit from Cardomain.com. They shipped the package very quickly so I would give the site a big plus.
