Strengths: large 80gb hard drive, many editing features and best of all
manually adjustable sampling rate when recording. also auto or manual chapter create and thumbnail picture create
Weaknesses: is not progressive scan
Summary: i already had the panasonic e-20 dvd recorder and a replay hard disc recorder (30gb capacity) in my system. i bought the rd-x2 so that it could take the place of these two machines while giving me more hard drive to store programs. with the rd-x2 i was able to edit out commercials, create chapters where ever i wanted and also create thumbnails of my choosing for the chapters.a really nice feature is it's ability to allow you to manually set the speed or quality of the recording in small increments. you can also choose between (3) levels of audio quality D1, D2 & L-PCM. I would say the only drawback to this machine is that it is very involved in getting to know how to use all the features but if you don't mind reading thru the best instruction manual (I have ever seen) it will pay you back with a great deal of satisfaction. for the video geek (that's me!) it was truely a labor of LOVE!!! this is your future and the future is now! gerardo
