Strengths: Good looking unit, easy to hold & solid performer.
Weaknesses: Tacky Vtech logo in bright silver on antenna.
Summary: Solid performer. Speaker phone option comes in handy for group talks & it actually works. Easy to hold & place between head & shoulder is a good thing. Base unit can be separated so in the bedroom it can go on one side & wife can access the phone on the other. It is nice & means less phones in the house I have to purchase. Several phones I observed did not have this option. Most like this have the phone attached. Very good price considering options & design

Strengths: NA
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: The VT5831 looks so cool, so does its functionality. I have the handset in my bedroom and the base station in the living room ( 20 feet away with 2 walls ). The handset works with crystal clear voice.

I purchased the Vtech VT5831 phone specifically fo ...
Strengths: Outstanding features, ergonomic design, attractive
Weaknesses: Sound quality
Summary: I purchased the Vtech VT5831 phone specifically for its strong features. The phone consists of a base unit and and a separate handheld unit. The base and handheld can both be used to make calls and both have speakerphone, hold, mute, redial, caller ID/Call waiting ID and 50 name and number directory. The system also contains an intercom system. Intercom can be directed from the base to any specific handheld registered to the base, or from a handheld to the base or to all units. Since it is not necessary to have a phone line to connect the handhelds, adding additional handsets is easy and facilitates a nice intercom system.
Overall, the strong feature set, specifically, the 5.8GHz frequency and handset speakerphone were the major selling points for me to purchase the phone. I needed a 5.8GHz phone so it wouldn't interfere with my 802.11b wireless LAN and I have not had any issues with it.
The main issue I have with the phone and, unfortunately, it is a big one, is poor sound quality. Both through the earpiece and on speakerphone, there is an echo after you or your caller speak. The echo can be minimized by using the Sound Select feature that changes the bass and treble of the earpiece speaker during a call, however, it never goes away. I have tried moving the base to different locations in my house, but this has not made any difference. Unfortunately, the poor sound quality is a deal killer for this product.

Strengths: Clear sound, easy to use, great range, very expandable, adjustible earpiece tone as well as volume, speakerphone, intercom, transfer, hold w/ringback, mute, good feel, and great battery life!
Weaknesses: Price, no answering machine on this model.
Summary: I bought this phone as soon as it came out, which means I paid probably 30% more than I should have. Oh well, it's more reasonable now but in general, I think all phones are overpriced.
This phone uses 5.8g to transmit, and 2.4g to receive. This allows for more bandwidth as it's basically using both frequencies. I like the way it performs. My only complaint is that occasionally I will drop a call accidently due to forgetting how to transfer from one handset to another. Once you get the process mastered though it's easy.
I like being able to adjust the tone of the earpiece, but in practice I've rarely used it.
It's a very comfortable and easy to use phone. Would buy again.

Strengths: Easy to set up, caller ID on both hand set & base unit, also speaker phone on both sets. Also good price at $50.
Weaknesses: no headset
Summary: I needed an extra phone and wanted one with caller ID & call waiting ID. It is a real plus to have the speaker in both of the sets. The buttons also have a nice touch to them.

Strengths: Very easy setup. Quality of sound is good. Design is sleek and has rich features such as speaker phone on handset. No WIFI interference noticed. Expandable to 6 handsets. Great price.
Weaknesses: Cannot use 2 handsets at the same time (say in a 2 way conference mode) - Most expandable phones have this drawback.
Summary: The main reason for my purchase was WIFI interference that I encountered with 2.4 GHz phones. I have not encountered that problem with this phone. Love the speaker phone feature on the handset. No answering machine, but at this price I am not complaining; besides I was looking for a phone without answering machine. Not sure how many CID (caller IDs) it can keep in memory.

Strengths: Dual Keypad, Dual Caller ID, and Dual Speakerphone.
Weaknesses: None as of yet. Maybe the price.
Summary: Overall this is exactly what I was looking for in a phone. The best thing about this phone is definately the speaker option on the headset. That was the main reason I bought the phone. 2nd best thing would be that you can do everything from the base as well. Ovearall great phone.

Strengths: Speaker Phone
Good value for the price
Good sound quality
Weaknesses: No Answering Machine
Headsets do not "share" a phone book each on needs progarammed separately
Summary: Good phone for the price (under $100 on sale)
Much better than an $80 other brand that I had to return
Range comparable and satisfactory (able to cover whole house/yar with no problems)
One annoyance I have is they tried to make the interface look like a cell phone ubt if you dial a number and then press "on" you have to dial the number again.

Strengths: Sound Quality
LCD
Base and Handset each have independent dial-pad and speakerphone
Intercom
Expandability
Weaknesses: None so far. I'd prefer different colors, but the color it comes in isn't bad.
Summary: As soon as you turn this on and hear the crystal clear sound of a dial tone, so clear, you're astonished. The Sound quality is amazing, and it feels like a quality piece. You can put your base in any room with a phone plugin, and your handset charger in a different room. Havn't tested range but it does have a Range weakness tone, so it will warn you before it gets too far away. Very cool phone, if you are debating over this phone - buy it.

Strengths: Great signal strength, caller id has both number and name, analog and digital clock on handset
Weaknesses: no headset included
Summary: I have had this phone for better than 30 days now and it is single handedly one of the best purchases I have made. This phone work great all over my house. The Speakerphone option on the base is great and works flawlessly. The speakerphone option on the handsets is not as good as the base unit, but works very well. The down side to this phone is the cost of extra handsets.
