Weaknesses: Have not found any. Summary: 2008-07-01 19:50:48 This player works flawlessly and the 1080P upconversion is clear and crisp. The Picture quality is improved over standard DVD however the picture quality is not close to a Blu-ray player. But, I feel like I am getting HD without the cost and for under one hundred dollars you can't go wrong with this DVD player. Set up was very easy. If you are not good at setting up technology of any sort you will have no trouble setting up this DVD player. Once I connected the HDMI cable to my Samsung LN-T5281F 52" LCD TV I was ready to go. The DVD player runs very quiet and the load times are very reasonably. Between 5 and 10 seconds on average. Multiple output options (HDMI, Component, Composite, Optical) Aesthetically pleasing. Weaknesses: Upscaling only works through HDMI, and doesn't work through component. Summary: You can play AVI on it, and it brings up a simple menu to select what AVI file you'd like to play. It upscales nicely, and offers your choice of output methods. A couple things you should be aware of before buying though. I was bummed that upscaling only works through HDMI when there's no technical reason that it shouldn't work with component as well. Also HDMI won't pass through the audio from my TV to my sound system, because HDMI doesn't allow it, and not for a technical reason. To get around this I had to run a separate optical cable straight from the player to my sound system. Not a deal breaker as this is still a nice player, but something you should keep in mind before you purchase. 75% of People (3/4) found this review helpful. The fact that it upconverts to 1080P seemed to be a bonus. The kids love watching their DVD's in Nana's bedroom and do we.
