Volume is loud enough if you go into settings and change limits. Must read manual carefully to set up. Match up with Sony TV's a big plus. Reads MP3, CD, DVD, 5 disc change works very well. Some times the rear speakers did not initially pick up the signal Summary: No wires for rear speakers make this easy for rooms where running wires would be difficult. The sound is acceptable and improves the watching experience. It is a good value for $375 but I would not pay $500. For $500 you could probably purchase 5 speakers, subwoofer, receiver and wireless receiver for rear speakers. Summary: In this case you do not get what you pay for. I have read and re-read the instructions to see if I'm missing something, because the sound on this system is barely loud enough for me to hear it, my mother can't hear it on 33 the highest level it has. I am pretty good at hooking up electronics so it isn't new to me. When playing a DVD or CD the volume is good, but if you want to listen to a TV forget it!
