    Product Experience:
    9 Days
Strengths: Built-in 2.1 Stereo System and Subwoofer; built-in DVD player; near theater quality picture even on a bare, textured wall. Headphone jack allows for movie viewing without disturbing others.
Weaknesses: More bulky than a projector only but still very portable. Cooling fan can be somewhat noisy/distracting at low stereo volumes, but is OK at higher levels.
Summary: 2007-01-01 01:52:13 The HP ep9010 Instant Cinema Projector really lived up to its name. Within a few minutes of unpacking the unit from its box, my 8-year-old daughter and I launched an impromptu showing of "The Lion King" on an empty 5-foot by 3-foot section of wall. For a family used to watching DVD movies on a 27-inch TV, the experience was a thrill. The picture, even on a beige, slightly textured wall, was close to theater quality, and the sound coming from the unit's stereo speakers and subwoofer had a resonance and clarity that was as good as or better than the audio on many large screen LCD and plasma TVs that cost one to two thousand dollars or more.

The palm-sized remote control included with the projector was very intuitive and easy to use. My daughter had several of the primary functions on it figured out before I could even glance through the instructions.

For people like myself who have always wanted to have a wide screen movie experience at home but can't afford to spend thousands of dollars on the various components -- sound system, projector, DVD player -- of a custom Home Theater System, this all-in-one unit is the way to go.

And, unlike a custom home theater system, it's portable. At our house, we can use it for a family movie in the living room, or, if the kids just want to watch television, I'll be able to carry it back to our rec room and watch "Band of Brothers" on a wall that offers the equivalent of a 92-inch diagonal screen. Yeah, baby!

Finally, with the addition of a portable tripod screen for about $100, we'll be able to watch movies on the outdoor patio this summer. And all of this for around $800. What a deal!
