The emperor has no (clean) clothes, folks.
F ...
Strengths: Photographs well. Sexy to look at. Color choice is a nice option.
Weaknesses: Cheap materials. FEELS cheap. Buttons rattle. Have to slam door to get it to shut. Inadequate tumble action balls up clothes, doesn't toss them like it should.
Summary: The emperor has no (clean) clothes, folks.
First, I have been the happy owner of a front-load Frigidaire Gallery for 2 years. The only reason I got this model is because we bought a new house and the the buyers of our old one wanted our washer/dryer. GREAT! An opportunity to upgrade for me!
1. INSUFFICIENT TUMBLING ACTION: My first load in this one was a "bed-in-a-bag" twin set (comforter, 2 sheets, 2 pillowcases, 1 sham). This is a twin, mind you, so not a big deal for this "gigantic" machine. Threw it all in straight from the bag.
At the end of the cycle, the sheets and pillowcases were still folded. And the load was just balled up.
Same thing for subsequent loads.
Turns out that the flippers/paddles in the drum are so small (maybe that's where the extra cubic feet come from), that the clothes just ROLL in the drum but don't really get tossed around like they would in a better designed machine.
2. ONBOARD COMPUTER FIGHTS WITH YOU: Some people may like that this machine "knows better" than they do, and knows what the "best" settings are for jeans versus bedding, etc. But when I want my load to use the fastest spin cycle, that's what I want. Overriding the presets is annoying because the machine keeps beeping at you. To make any changes in the settings, you have to stop the cycle THEN tell it what to change (hot v. warm water... fast v. medium spin... end-of-cycle signal on/off).
I find it annoying as hell and hankering for manual dials. And I'm a computer/gadget NUT, people.
3. PEDESTALS AREN'T INCLUDED??? Is it me, or wouldn't you think that those pedestals would be included in a machine that costs this much? To get both pedestals you're adding $460!! I cancelled that order because it just felt WRONG.
4. PLASTIC HANDLE BROKE OFF WITH FIRST USE: I'm returning these machines. When I've paid nearly $2,500 for a set of "elite" machines, and then the plastic handle breaks off in my hand... it's gone.
I'm exchanging them for my original Frigidaire Gallery, which isn't as sexy to look at, but FEELS like quality and washes and spins my clothes better than any other machine I've used.
