3 Star ReviewNo DVD-Audio
Strengths: Many I/O options
Weaknesses: No DVD-Audio playback, large size requiring special mounting
Summary: It's inexplicable that this car stereo with DVD playback doesn't support DVD-Audio. The car is the one place where everyone has a surround-capable speaker configuration, perfect for the DVD-Audio format.

Strengths: Affordable, Nice clarity, Easy to Use.
Weaknesses: Boring Background, Expensive Extras, Hard to watch DVD video during the day.
Summary: The avhp4000dvd is a quality product and a great value. The only complaints I have about it are that the background looks rather ugly and you cannot save pictures or files to the system itself. The stereo creates quality music and has the capability to play many different formats including Divx. The stereo can also be hooked up to a rearview camera, Sirius/XM radio, and bluetooth, but these extras are rather expensive. Picture quality is excellent especially at night and the touch screen is extremely responsive. All and all this is a quality Stereo, but the background style is rather lacking.

2 Star ReviewFatal Flaw
Strengths: Nice looking display, typically good Pioneer sound and build quality
Weaknesses: Unacceptable integration w/ Pioneer HD receiver add-on
Summary: Installation of the unit was fairly easy and initial check of features went well. However, I spent two days (working w/ Crutchfield's tech support) trying to get the HD add-on to work. Turns out that you can only access the HD tuner through the EXT1 option (thus your normal RADIO has no antenna). Unfortunately, the EXT1 interface is horrible. You only get directional buttons to tune (or six presets) and the rest of the screen is blank except for 10ish scrolling characters in the upper left corner to display the HD info.
