Strengths: powerful machine lots of horsepower
Weaknesses: terribly hot, loud fan noise, tech support worst in the business, once machine goes bad your on your own
Summary: This is the 2nd toshiba i have owned

and only because the 1st laptop i purchased was such a lemon that they made me a deal on the

one i have now.

the S303 worked wonderfully for the 1st yr

then it started having heating issues which eventually

leads me to where I am now,a laptop that stays powered up for 30seconds at a time then cuts off!

the machine sits on a table completely useless,

talking to tech support is a joke, the "tech's"

are basically phone operators reading off their screens to what your questions are. very unhappy with the whole toshiba experience, and i would'nt recommend their products to anyone if you are looking for a laptop then steer clear of toshiba i cannot emphasize this more strongly your are in for a terrible surprise down the road.

Strengths: Bright Screen, very fast, nice exterior, durable
Weaknesses: a bit heavy, bad support
Summary: I bought mine from PCVideoonline, and was not informed it was refurbished, but at least I got it on time. The display is incredibly bright, but there is a bad group of pixels in the middle of the screen which I am trying to get replaced, the keyboard is awesome, but the delete button is badly placed...The mouse pad is good, although a little shallow so I sometimes mistake the pad for the laptops sidings...there seems to defenitely be a place missing for a net scrool button, which it does not have, there is a lack of easy access buttons on the laptop, the hdd is a bit noisy as in my previous Compaq Presario 1501cl, the volume dial would be better placed if in the front, and the usbs are badly placed, but considering the price, durabilaty, exterior, speed and reputation, I got it for a bargain at 1300$.

Strengths: Long battery life.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: 2003-01-04 02:53:49 I got the 1905-S301 which shares the same specs as the 1905-S303.

The best feature of this notebook is its battery life. I got 2hours and 50 minutes playing DVDs and 3hours and 20min normal use. Note that I only set the screen to power saving mode and all other hardware were functioning at full power.

I read a lot about the battery before. Some said it lasted long, other said it did not. I run the test for myself.

I previously had an HP ze5155 (1.8ghz, 512mb ram, 40gb HD, 32mb video ram). But the battery life sucked. I only got 1hour and 30 minutes playing DVDs and 2hours normal use.

Toshiba uses a 12-cells battery while HP uses an 8-cells battery. The toshiba battery has a 33% higher capacity than the HP battery.

I also got my notebook for $993 at bestbuy.com after tax and $600 rebates. Yes, that was a deal for a 2ghz, 256mb ram, 40gbs HD, firewire, 16mb dedicated video card, 15" screen laptop.
