Strengths: CPad, Speakers, DVD-R/RW, Geforce4 460Go Graphics Card, Remote Control, Style
Weaknesses: Parallel port, serial port, PS2 port and also Could've had a Stick too (like inspiron 8200) the hard drive makes more noise than the other ones that I tried.
Summary: Please Do not bother yourself for other computers like I did. I tried Sony GRV-550, I tried the top of the line DELL Inspiron 8200 with P4 2.4 Ghz-M with ATI 9000 (64 MB) video card, 60 GB HDD.

I've been looking for a powerfull notebook with a very good graphics card and STYLE for almost 2 months, eventhough my DELL had a wonderfull graphics card but it looked like a $1200 computer not a $2400 one and the chasis was a disaster in compare to the Toshiba(S703). I beleive when you spend more than $2000 for a notebook you should get everything, the STYLE and the Performance and you can't find these two on any other notebook but the Toshiba 5205-S703 plus this notebook has a DVD Burner, so hook up your digital camcorder to it and burn it on DVD!.

I am an Engineer and I do a lot of modeling and analysis with very powerful software that need a very good graphics card, I should admit that ATI 9000 is little bit better than the Geforce4 but still this video card is good enough for engineering works. If graphics card is important to you, do not look for any HP, Compaq or Fujitsu, narrow your search down to Toshiba, Sony and DELL. If style is important too then you need to choose from Sony or Toshiba and if mobile processor is also an issue then only Toshiba(5205-S703 and Toshiba satelite pro) will give you everything plus a good price. The only thing that I haven't dealt with yet, is customer service. Hopefully that one will make us proud too. Good Luck with your purchase.

Strengths: very powerful, great computer. Many options most other lap tops do not give. Warranty is also very good.
Weaknesses: none that I can see.
Summary: I've always used toshiba lap tops just upgraded to this one from a toshiba 1900 satellite series 1.6MHZ this is a very very nice machine. Toshiba makes excellent laptops by far better than any other competitor out there. I would never switch. The warranty service is also great because you can always find a certified tech centre to service if need be although for the last 5 years I've never ever had problems.

Strengths: Powerful notebook with long life battery, great multimedia
Weaknesses: Too few ports, no priter port, no fireware.
Summary: This is an ultimate digital convergence notebook, long life battery with one extra style bay. The coolest is cPad that you can have application launcher, calcutaor, calender...

Strengths: DVD/CD burner combined, extra bay for extra battery or media reader
Weaknesses: absolutely none
Summary: I absolutely adore this laptop. There is no one who can beat Toshiba when it comes to laptops. The LCD screen and large hard drive top it off plus the build in wi-fi. On top of a great machine is the excellent tech support Toshiba offers. I highly recomment them and this model of which I have the 704 model which the only thing different is mine has Windows XP Professional.

Strengths: The whole package! Awesome sound, video, screen, ease of playing cds and even saved mp3s! Guys at work are jealous! No other notebook can touch it
Weaknesses: Cpad takes some getting used to (was used to stick on IBM)..could use a seperate scroll button. Volume button in front somewhat hard to adjust. Would like to see slider for adjusting screen brightness
Summary: I looked over and read many articles on notebooks(Consumer Reports rated the 503 very high)...being a hard nosed gamer I needed an awesome game machine besides being able to do normal stuff quickly and efficiently. Well look no further...this notebook is the sh*t! For u gamers I managed a MadOnion 3D2001 Score of 5400+..5700+ after downloading the newest nvidia driver...not great compared to the kick butt scores of the new Ati and nvidia cards for the desktops, but good enough to run most games ie. (Ghost Recon, Battlefield 1942, IL2 Sturkmokov, Tiger Woods 2003, Neverwinter Nights)...albeit not at thier highest settings but then not even my fast desktop can handle Battlefield 1942 at its highest...the internal card is compared to a nvidia Mx460...The sound is awesome, although after doing a DxDiag will only run in software mode, so no EAX.....hoping a driver update soon from Toshiba or Yamaha will fix that...Like others, Ive managed about 3hours of runtime between charges...I would like to see a Car charger...the cpad kinda sux for gaming so im going to get a seperate mouse for such...have used a joystick to play Fifa soccer...was very nice!...I used it to play alot of music and the sound is nice..its cool playing mp3 and cds...music title and sound meters is on the front little LCD!..amazing sounds from such little speakers...kills my old IBM pent. 133's Mattel's football wafer speakers. Cant believe the air the subwoofer moves! So I say get one while u still can!

Strengths: Sexiness, strong features(great speakers!, very nice keyboard, screen is amazing, wireless is build in, believe it or not.. the toshiba 24/7 support was pretty helpful and answers all your questions.
Weaknesses: its not light.. could have a wireless mouse, but.. am I pushing it?
Summary: This is the total package... toshiba must be losing out because they stop making this model, they have the 503 now, but that doesn't have the DVD-R! and a few other things. I brought the 1955-805, then returned it.. it was a large hunk of junk.. I've had sony's, fujitsu's, and dell laptops.. Toshiba hands down takes the cake.

I'd try my best to find this laptop..even tho they stop making it... it's that complete.

Strengths: Outstanding video display with very high resolution; excellent sound. USB & ethernet ports conveniently located. Large screen for notebook. Built-in PC card for wireless networking.
Weaknesses: Larger size diminishes ease of portability.
Summary: This notebook well-designed, running quickly and efficiently. The video display is stunning. Speakers provide high quality sound. I have thoroughly enjoyed using this system both on a wireless network and on a T-1 line.

Strengths: Great sound, incredible screen, CD control on front, remote control is great, DVD burner(I haven't tried it out yet). Cpad adds to the "cool" factor when others see your notebook.
Weaknesses: I had to search and search to find out how to display my logo on the cpad. Now that I have, it's the first thing everyone notices after the awesome screen!
Summary: Just got this notebook refurbished from Computemobility.com for only $1759 and it's incredible! Every conceivable port including firewire and USB 2.0. DVDs look awesome and sound great. I think the storage bay for the remote control is great. It shows that Toshiba is looking at the details when they're building machines.

3 Star ReviewYou really need to be comfortable with computer to ...
Strengths: Beautiful machine, doesn't seem as heavy as stated, 64MB video ram, Exceptional sound, DVD-R, quite.
Weaknesses: Toshiba customer service, Toshiba sales department, lack of knowledge by Toshiba techs. If it weren't for Toshiba, I'd rate it much higher.
Summary: You really need to be comfortable with computer to avoid potential problems, as Toshiba isn't much help, even after spending $250 on extended warranties. I bought the s703 because I could never get Toshiba to call me back after several phone calls, emails and snail mail, so I could purchase the s704 and Amazon didn't carry it. I had problems with the DVD-R at first, but Toshiba techs were unable to help me. I found help on the internet from other users. Toshiba is extremely bad,it's a shame, the machine is very nice! So I give it 3 out of 5 stars (though it doesn't show here)

Strengths: Theres nothing to complain about with this machine. It runs great doesn't get as hot as other Laptops, and the battery life is great.
Weaknesses: Theres no 3.5" Drive but who really needs it (thats what cd-r/cd-rw/dvd-r/dvd-rw are for)
Summary: Easily one of the best desktop replacement notebooks out there. This machine has become one of the best investments I have ever made.

If your a gamer the GeoForce 64MB Card in the system will keep you plenty happy. ( I have yet to play a game and have a problem.) FPS games run great and there is no ghosting....and RTS games have yet to cause me a problem.

Over all the system is a dream

Strengths: awesome speakers, brilliant crystal sharp screen, stylish design, DVD-RW drive, USB2, 60GB HDD, troublefree wireless broadband worked perfectly w/ a DLink614 router.
Weaknesses: goofy cpad thing needs some better engineering plus a backlight, maybe in cobalt blue...
Summary: My first laptop, the 703 is impressive, with the best audio and sharpest screen I have encountered amongst all the high end laptops I shopped.

Clear, radiant, big sound from the Harmon Kardon speakers, combined with UXGA resolution make the media experience super. However, at 1600x1200 I did have to tweak the font sizes in WinXP so I could read text! That works for all of us who can't see like we could when we were young! So don't stress on that count. You will never go back to anything less than UXGA after using this beauty.

I get 3+hours from the battery, and there is a bay for a second battery, which I have ordered.

Burning CDs and DVDs is a snap with the drag n drop interface. And the computer allows for playing music CDs and movies from the front control panel w/o the computer being open or on. So it doubles as a portable media player, good for up to 6 hours on batteries.Very cool.

A beautifully designed and constructed machine -- I love my Toshiba !!

Strengths: This is a do-it-all machine; the screen is wonderful, the sound is great, graphics are very good; 60-gig drive with a dvd burner...talk about storage and the ability to add another 60 on top of that.
Weaknesses: It's too pretty...will definately make the wives and girlfriends jealous
Summary: For the money; (I bought mine for 2175.00 before the $100 rebate) it can't be beat. Very solid and well built ready to tackle any task. One of the best keyboards of any notebook. The c-pad takes a little getting use to but a nice feature nonetheless. Battery life is very good goes well beyond 2 hrs. It's a little on the heavy side; but with all the features it has to offer that is a small trade-off. This notebook can definately replace my desktop.

Strengths: Amazing feature set including a drop dead gorgeous screen, integrated fire wire, USB 2.0, a DVD BURNER (!), fantastic speakers, smoking fast processor, unbelievable battery life.
Weaknesses: UXGA screen resolution takes a little getting used to.
Summary: Holy crap. That's about all I can say that will express my reaction to this machine. It's amazing. It was a toss-up between this one and the Sony GRX-670, and I am sooooooooo glad I chose this one. While the Sony does have a bigger screen, this one beats its pants off in every other way. The features are really unbeatable at this point in time.

I chose it over the Sony because, even though the Toshiba was actually a bit less (especially with the rebate), it has many more features. These include USB 2.0 (Sony has 1.1), 60 GB drive (Sony has a 40 GB drive), built-in Wi-Fi (Sony has a rebate offer for a seperate Wi-Fi card, but it takes 8-10 weeks to get here and it takes up a PC card slot), 3+ hour battery (Sony is around 2:40), and a remote control that lets you use the laptop as a DVD player, complete with Dolby 5.1 digital sound!!!

For my rebate, I opted for the second battery. 3:15 on a single charge is pretty impressive, but imagine 4+ hours! I think it's good until February 20th or something. I got mine from eCost.com, and I'm also very happy with their service. Plus, I had it the very next day after ordering because they have a shipping special where FedEx overnight is $9.99. Not bad!

The rest of the specs are pretty much the same -- 2.0 GHz P-4m processor, 512 MB of RAM, UXGA display, etc. Seriously, in the words of Ferris Bueller, "If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

For windows Users this laptop is the one to buy!!
