Strengths: Great turn-based tactical strategy game, high level of character customization, good graphics, 50+ hours of game play
Weaknesses: Takes some time to get into, ideal skill and weapons building may require consulting a strategy guide, bland storyline
Summary: Gladius finds you in charge of a school of gladiators, and it's your job to build your students (their skills, armor, weapons, etc.) so they may perform successfully and emerge victorious in a series of tournaments. It's almost like a sports game in this respect. Having put together your team, you'll plan your strategy to best defeat your opponents by moving and attacking within the grid-based arenas.

Game play can be a little slow and repetitive, but the depth and complexity of customization available to you gives you nearly unlimited options in sculpting your team. The enemy AI can make mistakes at times, but you still have to be careful to use the right team members and tactics to confront your enemies at any given time. No battles are ever a cakewalk in Gladius. Given the relative lack of turn-based strategy games on Xbox, most fans of the genre should be more than pleased with this entry.

Strengths: In-depth RGP; Great turn-based combat system; tons of items and characters to experiment with
Weaknesses: Lacks some polish; Too long
Summary: Gladius is a Roman RPG by Lucas Arts. It's an RPG in the true sense of the genre in that it will chew up hours, days, weeks of your life if you choose to get really involved with it. There are plenty of characters and items to try out as you progress through the game. The combat in Gladius is turn-based which is something unique that you don't see in games a whole lot these days (think Paper Mario). The game is very well thought out and has a solid story line. You can tell that Lucas Arts cut no corners in developing the gameplay for Gladius. The one area in which you might find flaws is the visual presentation. It seems that the graphics lack the general polish that would have surely pushed this game over the top and made it a huge success. In addition, as with most RPGs, one must be aware that playing the game is a huge time commitment. You can't expect to pop this game in just for a quickie. You'll have to play this one hours at a time. If you're alright with that, then I highly recommend checking out Gladius.

Strengths: Strategy RPG, Variety of items and characters, Upgrades and customization available, Long storyline
Weaknesses: Not the kind of game you can just pop in and play when you have 10 mins to kill, Long storyline
Summary: Surprisingly good! This is a great turn-based game with an excellent concept -- gladiator + rpg = unique and fun. And it has multiplayer turn-based team gaming, which is also unique. I've only played half of the game but it took me a good 40hrs so I figure that makes 80hrs for both campaigns.

3 Star ReviewMaximus! Maximus!
Strengths: Graphics, Strategy RPG on the X-Box
Weaknesses: How much time do you have to play?
Summary: Do you want to be a gladiator? Do you like strategy RPGs? Then this is the game for you. A very unique effort by Lucas Arts, you are gladiator living up to your father's legacy. This game takes time, a lot of time, and is very repetive. If you can look past the major flaw of repetition, what you have is a very deep game that shows that LucasArts is better at things other than the Force. The battles are good, however, the battlegrounds are boring, and for a game that spends this long in battle, ugly landscaping could put one asleep. 6/10
