Strengths: Beautiful laptop with fabulous 17" display screen and great keyboard. Built-in camera nice touch. Good desktop replacement machine for graphics, photo work, and desktop publishing.
Weaknesses: Don't like the Windows Vista OS -- it doesn't support some of my older printers and software. Cover latch in bad position, right under wrist when typing. Heavy, but knew that when purchasing.
Summary: This machine is a great step up from my last Sony Vaio (I've had two previous Vaio laptops in the last 15 years). Large capacity storage and lots of video RAM for working with photos and graphics. Would have preferred front USB ports in back or on the side, and it would have been nice if the laptop had four USB ports instead of three. Would have liked to be able to choose OS (would have preferred XP Professional over Vista). Disappointed that Sony didn't include full versions of software instead of trials and didn't include software or backup disks.
