Lost in video game form? It could have been much worse. . .
Strengths: Successfully recreates tv show atmosphere, blends well with seasons 1&2, creative flashback scenarios, solid environment graphics & lighting effects
Weaknesses: Weak character models, stilted animation, short overall length, limited replay value, weak voice acting, lip synch issues, expensive for what you get
Summary: Popular television series have occasionally made their way to video games through the years, but the results have been inconsistent, much like film-to-game translations. While Lost: Via Domus does a reasonable job of recreating the show for players, a number of small flaws keep the final product from being everything it could have been. Lost: Via Domus puts players in the role of a new character, an amnesiac photographer, between seasons one and two. While this tired plot device doesn't bring much new to the table, the existing location graphics and feel of the show mostly succeed. Some interesting flashback scenarios require you to recreate old photos in your new island environment. Unfortunately, the voice acting is flat, the animation stilted and the character models weak, and the entire adventure completes in a mere seven hours, making the $60 admission price hard to swallow. For $20 or less, series fans will find a lot to like here, but please do not pay more for this unless you simply enjoy being disappointed.
