Strengths: 7 color screen display, sound clarity/quality, features, reliability, satelite capable (xm ready) good pricing and ease of use
Weaknesses: Nothing so far....
Summary: I think this is one of the best cd players on the market right now because....It has so many features, like 7 color screen display and it is satelite capable (xm ready)mp3 player. The system is easy to operate when driving, so it is easy to change the stations and volume, cd controlls, etc because of the way it is made it makes it better when your driving. I did not have this on my other cd player and would have to constantly look to see what I was doing and this has made a complete difference alone. I didn't know what I was missing until I got this one. It was also very easy for me to set the clock and radio presets on this player (i usually have trouble with simple things like that) but not with this one it is so simple to operate and use. I also love the sound quality of this player. I have installed it in my older model car and the sound and clarity is unbelievable. I had one before which was a different brand cd player that I had installed 3 years ago but it wasn't near as nice as this one. I have absolutely no antenna on the outside of my car but I pick up all the radio stations with wonderful clarity on this player. When ever I go over bumps and potholes in the road this player never skips, and the area I live in that is a constant thing that I have to deal with....I really recomend this cd player because it gives the best overalll performance in a player that you could want. I think that it looks stylish too, the picture shown above does not do this player justice it looks much better in person than shown. I usually keep my screen in the color red because it matches my car and makes my car look better too. It is bright also, the picture shown above does not show you haw bright it really is. The style and brightness has really added to the look of the interior of my car with adding sound and quality features. It is easy to operate as I cannot stress enough about, so easy to use in the car while cruising down the road just to push a button. My last player had smaller buttons than this one and had a smaller screen too......................................................I asked the salesman at Best Buy which was the best selling cd players and he picked out a couple and this one was one of the ones that he said was selling good, in the top 2. Their was another one I liked but which was harder to operate and had a motorized face which I don't believe would have fit my car anyway. I took alot of time in Best Buy looking through cd player and this one was the one I picked because there wasn't anything I didn't like about it and I liked all the features. I knew that I was planning on having it in my car for a while so I better make a good choice in which one to buy as a keeper. I bought mine for 168.99 plus tax and that included free instalation, it was exactly 179.99 at Walmart and that doesn't include tax and instalation. I am very proud of the deal that I got and the good quality of this player and have not seen anything that near compares in that price range. It also has a beeper reminder, so when you cut your car off it detects that, and reminds you to remove your face plate and take it with you so that it doesn't get stollen. I always leave mine in the car anyway so I don't use this feature but it is nice if you would like to use it. You can turn the beeper off by going to the menu and selecting beeper off if you wish to leave yours in the car and don't want the beeper to go off when you leave. To me the sound sounds like a "seatbelt" reminder like when you first get in the car and you dont put your seatbelt on, that is about how it will sound. So many cool features that are easy to use with this system I am sure you'll enjoy it if you buy it. Thanks, Brandy

Strengths: DSO and BBE MP technologies. Hasn't skipped once yet on the bumps. Starts playing full MP3 cds in about
Weaknesses: BBE may be too much sound processing often times, and you can't turn off that stupid "take off the face" beep when you turn off the car.
Summary: 2005-08-31 14:33:47 The BBE sound processor makes MP3s, really everything sound more intense, clear, and bassy on stock speakers. I probably would not use it with better speakers, I would turn it off.
DSO is also a nice feature that makes the soundstage better. It sounds more like they are actually playing in front of you with DSO on any of it's three levels.
The Equalizer works fine, there are 7 bands, as well as preset EQs which are good and simple.
One issue I haven't solved is how to play mp3 files in alphabetical order... apparently it plays back in some different order...?

Tried it. Didn't like it.
Strengths: Great treble sound and overall sound quality at low-mid volume, seven colors to choose from makes for a fit in any vehicle, sub pre-outs could come in handy.
Weaknesses: At high volume middle frequency and especially bass frequency sounds become very distorted making the overall sound quality piercingly treble and unsatisfactory.
Summary: Day one: I bought it. Day two: I installed it. Day 3: I returned it. Within 20 minutes of listening I knew that this was not the deck for me. That wraps it up in a nutshell.

Strengths: Good Sound Quality
Weaknesses: Detachable face, Wasted Panel Spaces
Summary: The radio looks nice , and sound plays good. The problem is the detachable face seems useless, nowadays CD player prices go down significantlu, no need to add this feature a waste. And very inconveinant to eject and insert CD, would be take 3 times more than a slot CD. The panal layout is not very good, the button is small to operate, the display area is not effectively used, information not much.

Strengths: Nice features, decent cd player for the price
Weaknesses: Aux input is in the back, no USB
Summary: I am happy with this player. No discs have skipped yet. Easily hooked up my mp3 player using the aux inputs. Nice looks, quite a few extras, good sound, easy to use.

Strengths: The dso, 7 color displays, remote, excellent sound quality
Weaknesses: none
Summary: This receiver is a solid cd player. The 7 color displays is very cool and the picture does not display how vivid the colors are. The detachable face is important to me. There is a beeping sound when you turn of your car notify you to detach the face for safety. Very good sound quality on all styles of music. This receiver sounds great even on factory speakers. This has plenty of power, features, and gadgets for me and i am sure you to. Easy to install. Good Luck Buying!

Strengths: MP3 CD capability, Aux-in for I-pod, sub pre-amp out, volume dial, customizable EQs, remote, price
Weaknesses: can't turn off the annoying beeping "remove the face reminder" when you turn the engine off.
Summary: I saw that these were selling for about $130 with a $30 rebate so I bought one. Had been keeping up on the Sony CD decks for years, after I bought one in 1998 that was still going strong. Of course, this one has auxiliary inputs for your portable MP3 player (or whatever you feel like plugging in: portable DVD player, laptop, etc.). And because standard CD's hold so little music, MP3 CD capability is key if you don't have a disc changer.
Sound quality of this unit over my 1998 CDX-C680 is much better. I don't get hung up on brand names, but Sony has the best CD decks hands down. The volume knob is key. Decks that have buttons for level controls are just stupid. Of course, the beeping alarm that reminds you that the face is still attached after powering down is fairly annoying (for some reason, this beep had stopped on my older unit but I don't see anyhting in the manual about de-activating it).
Installation was easy because of my older Sony unit -- I just swapped it out, keeping the same frame and speaker harness. Same config as well: rear pre-amps out and sub pre-amp out to the Sony XM405EQX amp and subwoofer.
