Strengths: Plug&Play: stick the micro/mini/SD card into the phone and follow prompts to accept software install. GPS on your phone without paying for the service works on the Samsung BlackJack2!
Weaknesses: Difficult to navigate the software because this chip works with so many phones even Garmin doesn't know which button to press. Lot's of trial and error to get the Mobile XT screen you want.
Summary: For phones with built-in GPS antenna (like Samsung BlackJack2), it's a really usefull feature to add GPS. The Garmin Mobile XT chip occupies the slot, so you won't be able to play MP3's off the slot and use GPS simultaneously. Turn-by-turn voice prompts, "0.2 miles then turn right.", does not speak street names - will not say, "0.2 miles then turn right on Oak St." Also has color 3D view - just like dedicated GPS units, but within the small screen size of your phone. Does NOT require TeleNav service from cell provider - so it will also work when out of cell range! GPS on the device you're already carrying around for less cost than dedicated GPS - you can't beat it! Highly recommended add-on functionality to your Smartphone.
