Strengths: Sound quality, display, useability
Weaknesses: No "time-correction"
Summary: I spent 17-20 hours researching decks online and narrowed it down to the Alpine CDA-9830 or this Clarion. I played with the Alpine CDA-9837 at Best Buy, and the Clarion at my local car stereo shop. It was a tough decision, but I went with the Clarion for the strengths listed above. The build quality of Alpine seems to have slipped in the last 15 years (the last time I owned Alpine).

The display of the Clarion is a nice compromise between the basic Alpine (or Clarion DXZ555MP) or the very expensive types. I didn't want anything flashy and don't care about screen savers (turning off the screen saver was the first thing I did). I do want a readable display with enough room for title and artist as it plays on Sirius. I've had no problems reading the display in sunlight with my sunglasses on, though the clock is a bit small.

The Alpine's time-correction feature is nice, but I picked up some really good Memphis speakers with this deck and it sounds exceptional. I have no sub or external amps and the sound is very defined. Crisp highs and tight bass.

Clarion also has a 2-year warranty as opposed to Alpine's 1-year. I recommend this deck.
