Strengths: - Thin elegan design
- firm keyboard
- lots of interfaces (firewire, lan, modem, spdif)
- stable performance, no hangs so far
Weaknesses: - No PS/ port so you lose 1/2 USB ports,
- Shared Video memory
- Poor video performance: low score for games or 3D apps
- Low battery life (2,5h)
- Noisy fan
- bottom gets VERY hot
Summary: The product has an elegant design and doesn't weight much (2,9kg). Running W2K, there is no hang-up so far. There are a lot of interfaces, including 2 usb interfaces, BUT since there is no PS/2 interface, you lose one of the usb ports for a usb mouse, leaving 1 useable USB port. On the other hand, there is a Firewire and SPDIF interface for eg digital cameras, AV editing. However, don't get to excited for the video performance is poor (low score on several 3D benchmarks), due to shared video memory, unless your device has a P4-512MB. The keyboard is very solid and in my opinion 'nice' to touch. One major thing that irritates me is the noisy fan: after about 1 hour operation, the fan starts/shuts with 1 minute intervals, nasty when performing presentations. Actually, it's not the interval of the fan start/stop, but it's noise. Compared to other notebooks, the fan produces a lot of noise. Another thing is that the bottom of the device becomes extremely hot (since there is no hardware support for thermal measure components, I cannot measure the actual temperature, but i feel it's just ... hot). You can hardly touch the bottom.
