2 Star ReviewUnsatisfactory Experience with HP 530
Strengths: HP Brand,Smooth Keyboard, $60 Bonus, 15.4" LCD, DVD Writer and definitely the Technical Support!!!!
Weaknesses: Insufficient Battery Backup for just 1Hr 20 Min, Speaker Volume, Comparative High Weight, Only 2 USB port
Summary: 2008-06-19 22:42:01 I heard of this HP 530 before and although I didnt buy this one and instead was given by my company, I was initially happy.

Its fast courtesy 1.83GHz intel, awesome keyboard experience and a bright 15.4" LCD.

But then I used it for 2 weeks and was irritated with its battery backup. How can you even travel with a laptop of 1.20Hr battery backup?

And then if u want to see a movie or listen to music, you better equip yourself with a headphone. The speaker volume and quality is frustrating.

And when u switch it on, it blinks like flash lights for couple of times; but then technical support team of HP is really good!!!

Strengths: Low price, $60 Rebate, Bright 15.4" Widescreen, great feel to the keyboard, DVD Re-writer, Wireless, VISTA Business, easy to carry around.
Weaknesses: Weight...but then again, the more you pay, the lighter it will be! Only 2 USB ports, but I added $6 4-port Hub, so I can add all my peripherals. Headphone jack is in front-not on side.
Summary: This is my first HP 530, but I have purchased (3) HP 510 Notebooks PC's in the past, and bought them solely on the HP name and the low price. Two of the 510's are being used by college students with no trouble what-so-ever after 3 years of heavy use & abuse. I've had my HP 530 since March 2008 and I use it like a desktop PC with an external Targus Keyboard. I rarely travel with it, but when I have, the wireless NIC connected flawlessly to the hotel's network. This is also my first experience with VISTA Business, having moved from my dinosaur Win98 MiniTower, and I like it a lot! HDD is a decent size. I'll be purchasing this same model (or the next generation) again when child #3 heads off to college in 2009!! GREAT VALUE FOR THE DOLLAR!
