Strengths: Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of memory, Large harddrive size, Vista ULTIMATE (for my setup) and huge 17" screen. Great design too!
Weaknesses: Bulky, not for travel rather for desktop replacement. Audio pops/crackles from time to time.
Summary: I bought this laptop open box for an AMAZING price... unfortunately, the one I bought had distored pops/crackles in its sound... besides that, the laptop is amazing. First, the overall design is very pleasing - great white/apple green details and even the stickers were kinda cool. Obviously, the speed of the laptop is excellent - the processor teamed with 2 gigs of ram made loading programs a breeze. Speaking of programs, the computer comes with pre-installed software:

AVG 7.5 (free edition)

Lexmark 1200 series

Firefox

MWSnap

OpenOffice

Steam

WinRAR

Zonealarm

I uninstalled all of them though... The Blu-Ray writer/player is awesome - no complaints and amazing quality/definition. The integrated webcam is a blessing and hardly noticable. The 5.1 speaker system is a cool feature, but in my opinion, not necessary.

If you want a great/fast/up to date laptop at a fraction of the cost when compared to "name brand" laptops (i.e. Sony, HP, etc.), this is the way to go!!!

2 Star Reviewlot of issues and discontinued
Strengths: big
Weaknesses: keyboard and sound issues
Summary: there are lot of good things on paper/screen.

1.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T5450, 2GB DDR2 (you get some laptops with 3GB for little more), 160GB, DVD±RW DL (i have not seen blueray? as somebody mentioned), Windows Vista Home Premium, 17" LCD (great size). this is like a white elephant. looks great. but the keyboard has annoying jumping feature where the cursor jumps to diff place while typing ..without touching the touchpad? support made me to reinstall drivers etc. nothing helped. living with it. it claims to have great sound .. dolby etc. but it stops working suddenly! support couldnt help me with that either.

3 Star Reviewlooks good but does not perform that good
Strengths: big screen good features
Weaknesses: too much software loaded
Summary: the features are great: 1.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T5450, 2GB DDR2, 160GB, DVD±RW DL, Windows Vista Home Premium, 17" LCD. currently no sellers are offering this. why? may be they realized the problems with this laptop. the wireless management by acer does not work properly and also other software loaded with this laptop. uninstall everything and it should work better. major problem is with the keyboard. it jumps from one place to another while typing. it has nothing to do with the touchpad. for the money spent (on clearance) this is a decent purchase.

Strengths: Very crisp, bright screen. Soft touch keypad. Zips through appplications.
Weaknesses: Wireless adapter periodically drops the connection.
Summary: I am very pleased with this laptop. The screen is amazing! Bright, sharp, crisp images. The laptop feels light in comparison to my HP 15.4 notebook. This is my first PC with Vista and all my old applications work; I did need to download a few new drivers. The built in Transfer Wizard worked far better than I expected and I only had to tweak a few program settings. The 160GB hard drive has two 80GB partions. The only issue I have is the wireless adapter periodically drops the connection because for some reason it switches from automatic DHCP to designated DHCP. I wish I had bought two of these laptops when I had the chance. The color of the case is very sleek and ultra modern.

Strengths: big screen and great sound
Weaknesses: heavy and issues with wireless
Summary: The Core 2 Duo performs excellent. The 2GB of Memory is fine and 160GB of Hard Drive is ample for my use. The display is very nice with good brightness and resolution. Not made to carry around as it is quite heavy, but a terrific desktop replacement. The chassis seems solid. Not a great batter though.

Strengths: Display, Processor, Value to Price Ratio
Weaknesses: Weight Battery life
Summary: 2008-05-09 15:10:57 Was able to get @ a bargain price @ staples. Under $600.00.

Loaded Office 2007 PRO and a few other large programs and the Core 2 Duo performs excellent.

The 2GB of Memory if fine and 160GB of Hard Drive is ample for my use.

The display is very nice with good brightness and resolution.

If you are purchasing this for mobility, you may want to sample the weight @ a Retail Store.

Not made to carry around. Quite heavy, but a terrific desktop replacement. The chassis seems solid, but like most laptops, time will tell.

Battery only good for about 2hours.

Strengths: Good quality, good price, fast
Weaknesses: no
Summary: Laptop is preloaded vista home premium, NOT ultimate as the reviwer above stated. The laptop is fast with intel core 2 duo processor. the LCD screen is bright and sharp. I upgraded memory to 3Gb which is the maximum memory 32bit vista can use. The speed is alittle faster when run large program. 160gb hard drive is enough for me, I used only 40gb. I seldom use DVD drive since most of my files are transfered via USB and network. DVD drive is still necesarry when you try to install software. Only concern is the weight, but 17" laptop is a replacement of desktop, so it is ok to me.
